Russia has reason to be on the defensive. We've brought Eastern Europe into NATO, got permission to build bases in the Stans -Temporarily- then the US states they are permanent. We are stoking the anti Russian movement in Ukraine, offering no help in Chechnya, actually aiding critics of Russia's own 'war on terror' and the US is pushing for a nuke umbrella over it's former territory in central Asia. The US is trying to destabilize Iran to install a Shah 2 and water rights in central Asia are not going Russia's way as US backed dictatorships in the Stan's drain resources. Russia has every reason to be on the defensive. The US is surrounding her.

USA has put/ is putting rocket bases in poland and radars in Czechoslovakia. This means Russia will have to make same # of rocket bases and radars to take out each of those new bases. It is an appropriate action to the hostility from the USA and UN.
