Sounds to me like your friend is a member of a certain denomination that believes that his little cabal of Christians are the only true believers, and the rest of the world is filled with those following a false god ultimately to end up in Hell. In any event, he's got it half right.

I'd say pseudo-christians are all the hypocrites using religion as a way of making money, like televangelists and perhaps the victims of these scams who think they'll buy their way to heaven.
