To the charge of "American cultural influence" in Europe - 'Americanization'

I myself have no problem at all, but I see my coleagues so wary of anything that is 'too American', they call it the "McDonald" culture.
Funny though that when I ask detaling it or elaboration, I hear only wishwashing answers, they do mix up fast food, aggressive open marketing into one salad.
Most of these critics will eat at McDonalds & adopt US marketing & will watch US films.

I suggest an European remedy: A spoon-full of sugar...

and not a fake diet (splenda or not) one.

No.That would lead to an irony overdose.

It would be as fake as a German-SOY-Wurst (sausage).

Maybe if Europe valued her culture enough to stop massive waves of immigrants and Islamization...you'd not have to take our shitty consumer culture instead.

America ist wunderbar. Coca cola, wonderbra.

Born in German, raised in America and now study in the UK (but currently on break back in Germany).

All I can say is that I don't know what the hell some of the european countries are doing. Their governments are so damn scared of insulting muslims that they are giving in to their shit.

How, as a government, to equally treat all religions and keep your culture intact somehow?

One example comes to mind....full faced burqas...

How does a country like Belgium or Holland ban burqas but not ban someone wearing a cross necklace? Where does it stop? It's fine to respect religions, but where does it stop? I could create a religion where it would be a sin to sign my name...what would these cowardly european countries do? They would create a way for me and my followers (if we were a large enough group) for us to get around that. I hate it.

I say screw religion (in terms of goverment). Believe whatever the fuck you want to believe but you better not expect any support from your fucking government!!!! What the hell man. This kind of thinking is greatly needed to save the UK from what it's becoming. The muslims there area taking advantage of the UK government like there's no tomorrow. There's not even a big christian movement going on in the UK, many are secular...why all this sucking up to religion bullcrap? Ticks me off..

    Mr G.:

I full know what that song (humourous and kind of hypocritical as it is) is about.

I was saying if they actually gave a damn about their culture, American consumer culture would not be so prominent.

Globalization -- the unification of Passengers Earth -- is predictably resisted at all levels by all degrees of tribalism.

    It's in our jeans.

This reminds me of the myth of the frog and the boiling water. We've been swimming in it so long now we don't even realise it's killing us.

Interesting thought. So they've become decultured as well as deracinated?

The frog is killing us or the boiling water?

The Spirit of liberty, of Protestant Christianity, has been what made Europe and America great, America's hanging in there, but Europe appears to have lost its way.

Pardon me, but only a limited part of Europe is protestant. I'm reasonably sure you are totally ignorant of Europe so feel free not to make judgements on Europe based on your ignorance.

What made Europe great was that Protestantism catalyzed the Renaissance, how ignorant can you be?

    Less ignorant than you apparently.

The renaissance started in Italy. Let me remind you that Italy is and was catholic.

Let me remind you that the renaissance started before the reformation. That is, protestants did not exist. That's right you ignorant ignoramus. The protestants appeared 200 years after the renaissance kicked off. The best stuff of the renaissance came from the south and not the north.

Well it "kicked off," but the liberties of creativity and limited government were fostered by the Protestants, from Christian philosophy, and so Europe entered its greatest days, now it's a secular/Islamic/Catholic monstrosity with much fewer liberties, all under the thumb of secular humanists who merely tolerate religion for expediency.
