It is an extra-biblical account of Jesus' death from 33AD!!
It hasn't hit the mainstream media yet, but you know how THEY are.

    It's about time.
We can foget about that long embattled Josephus quote, this is the real thing.

After you take a look at the link, tell me...
Based on Jesus' words in the Bible, what do you think Jesus would have thought of such things?

It's obviously not purporting itself to be valid - no one is trying to perpetrate a fraud here...

This is one of the main differences I see between Eastern philosphical thought and practice and most of the Christians I have come across (yes, I am making blanket generalizations - get over it).
When you talk to Buddhists about Buddhism, they talk about the austerity - the value of suffering for a cause and belief - the importance of spiritual purity and integrity. They feel like they have to work hard to earn their rewards. Religious practice is sacrosanct.

Most of the Christians I have spoken to seem to be looking for a religion that fits nicely and neatly into their life already. They don't want to work hard to attain anything - they feel they deserve it and want it handed to them. They are attracted to shiny, pretty things and want a fun religion. Religion is kitch. Christianity seems to appeal to those who feel entitled to an eternity of bliss by virtue of the simple fact that they deserve it. Christianity is simple, easy, failsafe and kitchy.

    Is it just me?
Maybe I have been meeting the wrong Christians?
Maybe it is simply American "culture"?

Absolutely amazing proof - I am now totally convinced he once existed.

I just sometimes find it hard to have the same level of respect for religions that have feel-good events and conversion-drive initiatives that end in "-O-Rama!" and involve things like Jello molds.

Looking from the outside, it seems pretty difficult to tell the difference between Christianity and a Hallmark store. I'm not sure which is feeding off the other.

Considering the link, no, but I think many atheists do accept that Jesus existed. I do.

There is an interesting tidbit of historical knowledge that I bring to surface from time to time. The dead sea scrolls were carbon dated to be 300-400 years older than Jesus' life.

Oddly enough, this is the only hard evidence of *something* awkward happening with JC. As we know that people don't have any known ability to perceive future events, a hypothesis must be considered that the life of good ol' JC might in fact be pure fiction.

I don't think the dead sea scrolls contain the new testament (the one that mentions Jesus).

I currently go to a catholic school and I agree with you. I am surrounded by devote Christians whom can’t be bothered to go to church and have never not done something because of what god declared. They make me endure their services which are really quite pathetic and after that you wouldn’t tell their daily lives from an anthiets.

You're right One-Raven to be a little suspicious.
I remember as a kid they taught us to cut paper dolls of Jesus.....indocrinate them early.
It alway felt a little strange even then, like a warning from God to my heart.
    Somethings not right.

    Baptist, Methodist, Catholic......what's the difference.
Like mother, like daughter...in the cesspool of mediocrity.
Few are they that escape her snares.
Tragedy set me free, it's a law of opposites that reveals God to men.
    It's not that easy.

Religions are misleading the people....they always have.
It's not to the masses, but the individual God reveals.
Women are typed in parables sometimes as churches.
There have been seven ages since Christ, seven church ages....
    Read the parable of the seven women;

"And in that day seven women shall take ahold of one man saying, We'll eat our own bread,... wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach..."

Then a warning to any that can see it...about these churches in the last days....

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying"....,
"Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues".

    There's your call...
    The King has returned.
