http://www.wordsmart.com/ws_challenge/index2.php On the first try it said my vocabulary is at the level of most bookkeepers, store clerks, airplane mechanics, which is average. My income is expected to be between $19000 to $33000 per year. Expected SAT Verbal was ~560. On the 6th or so try I got 725 on the vocab test. My income went up to $88,000 and my expected SAT score was 800. My careers were Manager, Engineer and some others.

Had a few tries. About 650 on my first try. Top score of about 925 on about my third try. Average between about 700-900. The score seems fairly random though. Sometimes the thing gives you more words and you get a higher score.
I have noticed that Americans have a much better vocabulary than the English, I see this all the time on tv when people are being interviewed etc. Why is that?
They don't interview the average american person. And you know the average English person from experience.
seriously, even the 'trailer trash' of those awful reality shows and Jerry Springer seem to have a wider vocab than average English person. Is it a difference in what is taught in schools? I always find Americans on TV very wordy compared to English on Tv. Easy way to test 5 English here who cosnider they have TOP vocab aquisition compare their test results to 5 Americans from here. Who wants to volunteer? (not me obviously)
640 on the first, 815 on the second try. The two highest scores reported here so far are by Australians Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
