Beating the prior record holder - Ronald Reagan - Gerald Ford became the longest living US president. As of today, he's 93 years and 121 days old. Reagan died on his 120th day of his 93rd year. Thank you...president...Ford.
` I dunno... I owned 2 Ford vans, and the 'gines rocked. Granted, they were 1980s vintage... by now they probably pack aluminum-block, super-duper computer-controlled fuel efficieny "wimp-o-matic" crapola. Apparently they used some chintzy steel in the bods, tho' - 'cos they rusted all to hell until there'd be bits falling off as they sis-boom-bah'd down the line. I mean- granted, I live in the Western Extents of the Soviet Socialist Republik of New York, where one small town dumps enough road salt over one Winter week-end to mummify a platoon of King Kongs, but these babies looked like a B-17 after a mission over Schweinfurt by the time I got rid of 'em... As for the President... Well - he did serve in the Navy during WW2. Definitely cool. As Prez, tho'... eh... I'm old enough to remember watching this blunder from the Ford-Carter debate: "There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe and there never will be under a Ford Administration." Ford also said that he did not "believe that the Poles consider themselves dominated by the Soviet Union." Pardoning Tricky Dick ? Much as I think Nixon was cool - a sumbitch and a half, but cool - this smacks of the sort of back-room deal of the worst stripe. Especially as we now know just what a sumbitch Richard had been. He did survive his encounter with "Squeaky" - but mostly because the silly bitch was too dumb to work "Old Slab-Sides" properly. Guess that's what hangin wit' Charlie gits ya.
