In that specific case, yes. Those factors are more important. Similarly, if you're a genius and a mob man hits you in the head with a baseball bat, it would likely have adverse effects on your cognitive ability. But those things usually don't happen. Children usually do not languish in dark closets. Jensen estimates the heritability of IQ at about .8. He stresses that .8 is an average. IQ heritability can be higher or lower, depending on environmental factors. Like I said, the Kurzweil/Savant child, who received hardly any nourishment, would have a low IQ heritability, even though he or she may have genes that would under normal conditions result in a genius.

Just because IQ is not always highly heritable does not mean brain size is not important, or that smart people tend to have large noggins. Nope.
