Hey, if you care about this place and if you have the means, please donate what you can to keep this place up.

We need to raise $1,100 that is needed to pay the hosting bill for the next 12 months.
Without that sum the Sciforums will exist no more.

If you are new here, exactly the same was done last year after months of Sciforums being offline.

I'm posting this here because not that many people check the Site Feedback section.

    Probably until,

    a) It's been paid!
    b) He hasn't got money to pay it (= When he hasn't got 90$/month)

    ---

I wonder though, why keep the ads if he wants the users to finance it anyways?

I think there should be ads. I am broke as hell, but I don't want to see sciforums go down again. I would rather have a sciforums with a few banners, like it was when I first started coming here, than no sciforums at all.

    Pocket change.

What, the Army of the Progressive Rabble can't convert their own intellectual capital into enough dollars to keep their own bubble inflated?

    I'm a Darwinist, not a clueless mark.

If your la-la tangible-in-exchange-for-intangible business model sucks, especially by your own admission, no investor in their right mind is going to buy into an evolutionary dead-end.

    Secular don't mean suckular.

    Sigh.

    You said, "WE".

Why would I waste a Universal Truth applicable to a specific community on a mere mortal narcissist?

Sorry, dude. It wasn't just about you.

well i had planned to give some money, but the moderator calling himself stryder' has
put me right off. censoring a completely harmless one-sentence post, and then censoring my obvious angryreaction to his absurd moderation.

I had said before quite a fet times how free these forums were in comparison wit others i'd had experience of, where moderators acted like little-hitlers, totally stopping freedom, and flow and passion. but stryder has really fukin crossed me big time, and my view of these forums have changfed. so thank that idiot for not promoting these forums, and for stopping THIS member from contributing dosh!

Seems like Mr G beat me to the punch.

This place is made up almost exclusively of people who simply will never cut it in the world of commerce, and the remainder either swap stock tips, or will stop caring when they do earn. Go to the Business and Economics section - how many people are talking about the practicalities of business?

    ZERO.

The unmonied intelligentsia has always been the staple of this place, and in the last few months, the remainder of the Great Unmonied Unwashed. The place always REEKS of poverty, and now in addition it reeks of stupidity.

$1200 is a PITIFUL, shameful amount for a quality website to ask, that would have been paid in a couple of days on more money-oriented forums. But it's a shamefully HIGH price to ask, given the quality of the site.

If this place keels over tomorrow, I really wouldn't give a hoot.

    Jaybee.

You're just trying to rally hate against that individual. There's no way he alone would stop you from contributing if you wanted to, especially since now he has stepped down from that position.

Unless it's been changed, there's a google ad bar on the first post of every page for non logged-in users.

    Yeah there are adverts.

Duendy, I hope you're not the cause of Stryder's demise!

Well go and join another forum then. I bet you don't though, because Sciforums is great.

    Well, Jaybee.

There you go. Commerce 101. You make a valid point from your viewpoint as a consumer.
My question is do you really want to help sciforums survive or just complain about it?

hmmm you said you didn't care.. then why post?

Do you know what the practicalities are of commerce that you just stated?
Why is it that you do not share your knowledge of commerce with us?

Who is the owner of this forum?
Is this forum meant to be a commercial endeavor?
Does everything have to be a commercial endeavor?
Has the owner made it easy and convenient for the members to send money?
Has the owner given a value good enough for the members to send money?
Is the owner thinking globally or just locally from his administrative position?

I'd be happy to go into the whole practicalities of running the online "commerce" of a forum business with you, Jaybee, but you'd have to pay me a consultant fee, first!!!!!
