Are you talking about an archery bow?

I made one back in high school from oak, maple and mahogany. I can still put an arrow through a tree with it.

and how would i construct the fiberglass bow?

i want to make one for "free" i rarely pay for my hunting weapons, i recently got a pistol crossbow an 80 lb one its not bad. . . . i only pay for swords and other weapons like that, as i cannot make them with what little skill and equipment i have, dont think i can melt iron/steel in my oven,

howlong should you soak the wood for and leave it? i was told soak for about 30 mins to 1 hour, and leave for a few days while its bent and clamped, or strung,

the last bow i made was a chinese bamboo bow, the type with many layers of bamboo bound together to add tension and "spring" to it at the same time, i failed i need some good chinese bamboo, the type you can use for scaffholding on buildings,

oh and Q can you find all of those trees in england?, i know we have oak trees. i wouldent have thought they were that good for bows.

in ancient times.. the best bows were produced by layorig horn and wood together, and forcing it backwards... im sure modern synthetics have caught up.

    hickory makes good sledgehammer handles
    i don't know about bows

if you use wood it seems you would need to venier it to add strengh
roman gave i believe the best answer, fiberglass
you could make the mold out of sand or better yet clay
you would need to finish it with sandpaper

voodoo child got it I believe, yew was the material for the traditional english longbow. I am pretty sure you are looking at a drying time of two years if you aren't paying for seasoned wood so I hope you are patient.
