To my surprise, my greatest enemy ever might turn out to be my greatest ally. For many years I thought that capitalism was truly an evil and egoistic system. In many ways, that is true. I spent years studying my enemy in order to defeat it. But after studying it for many years, I'm starting to get to a surprising conclusion- it was not made to be that way.

When capitalism was created, most of what we had was feudalism. In many ways, capitalism has preserved the feudalist system through the corporate ladder. But contrary to the feudalist system, it gives people a little bit more power to change the world. That brings me to my conclusion- the purpose of capitalism is to improve the reality of mankind.

This is a fairly nobel purpose which we don't see much nowadays. Most people who start businessess are completely concentrated on making money, often abusing or enslaving others. Many businessess such as Telus and Rogers don't give a shit about people. They basically financially rape people through so-called "promotions" and "bundles" which are designed to take money from people. This kind of firm often provides poor service and asks for a lot of money. You often have to pay for them to get out as well, and they also manipulate their contracts and add clauses in order to take as much money from you as possible. This is the kind of corporation that has absolutely disgusted me throughout my life and made capitalism my enemy.

But now, I understand that even non-profit organizations are businesses! What I've learned is that they have a mission, jsut like every business. It is the mission of the business that really matter. It is the mission that is the beauty of capitalism. Money must be considered secondary. That's why capitalism has become so disgusting even destroying our environment- people focus too much on money. Yes, money it is important. Without it, the business can't breath. But when getting money is more important then making the world a better place to live, then capitalism become rotten, devious and the most disgusting thing in the universe. But when the mission is the focus, then capitalism become something good for people.

From now on I actually love capitalism!!!

Capitalism has good intentions, but one day it must yield to socialism.

Capitalism has an ideal too; what is on paper is much along the lines of what you describe, and it looks really nice.

However, while I conform to the system, I can only support socialism.

The first myth of capitalism is that it opposes socialism.

    No such dichotomy exists.

    ...

The opposite of capitalism (as an economic engine) is barterdom, or "amonetism."

Read "The Worldly Philosophers" by Robert Heilbroner.

Correct, qwerty. Capitalism serves as the cradle of socialism.

One aspect of communism is barterdom, and since socialism has many of the elements of capitalism it cannot be considered its opposite.

I wonder if capitalism and socialism can lead to a healthy amonetism where everyone is financially free. Personally, that's my dream....

The peak of capitalism will be uni-monetism, not a-monetism. "One world currency" or the like.

Then socialism will decide the management of resources, not inequities of units of credit.

Facial is right about socialism supplanting capitalism.

    Eventually.

    ...

Conspiracy nuts like Alex Jones seem worried about land grabs of the US' public parks by the WBO, however it seems more plausible that the world's wealthiest socialists are really assuming control for the public's own good, otherwise, our elected officals would likely mortgage them off for ideological hegemony or personal gain.

Why unimonetism instead of amonetism? Are there any advantages? Do you know how to compare them?

Amonetism means if you want bacon you have to find someone with pigs and go trade chickens, gold bars, or servitude, or whatever the pig owners accept OTHER THAN MONEY, to barter with them in order to get your bacon. It seems silly, yes, that we all carry all our actual possessions around instead of "agreed upon" items representative of those possessions, or fractions of them, or multiples of them.

Look at Capitalism in evolutionary terms; not the concrete terms instilled in us by U.S. propaganda or anti-capitalist rhetoric.

What is the ultimate evolutionary step in capitalism?

A cheap (to manufacture), highly durable, note or token which is universally accepted as a unit of trade.

    That is Unimonetism.

    ...

    Think "star trek"...

Isn't that like saying "The One True purpose of Sex is to Lose Body Fluids" though?

I thought communism was the result of feudalism (crop rotation): hence it is there where we find revolution to be it's goal. Of course I may be wrong.

Edited: crop rotation note has been added for clarity.

I thought communism was a reaction to a form of stagnated capitalism where the rich were getting richer and the poor staying poor.

Feudalism was before capitalism and was based on inherited societal rank. Capitalism was a reaction to feudalism which created wealth based societal ranks. The difference is that under capitalism, you can (in theory) make money and change your rank; whereas under feudalism, you're stuck with your peasant heritage.

    That's what I heard, anyway.

We all know all that. And we also all know the problems with one money and one government. Take a look at Europe for example. Take a look at the prices there... Like one coke in Paris is costing like 5 times more then before, or something ridiculous like that. I kind of miss the Franc...

Capitalism was created in the era of feudalism. Farmers, blacksmiths and so on used to trade their things. They were all enterpreneurs. Nobody worked for someone else. People paid a fee for the king, so that they could use his land and stay within the safe walls, because there were barbarians outside. Capitalism was born from this partnership between the peasants and the kings. To this date, that is still called "real estate", or "royal estate". So the kings created coins that were traded for land. Then the peasnats started trading coins amongst themselves, and do more business with each other. Eventually, some people became employees for others. BUt all that was within the was of this single "kingdom". They could trade with other kingdoms because they had different coins, with different values. And so on...

The first taxes were just rent for the king. Later on, more taxes were created. And we all know the rest.

I'm not saying the feudalist system was great. I'm just saying what came out of it, and how it evolved into capitalism. Remember that slavery also existed and still exists....

    Precisely.

That's also true. But we have to remember that it is very stagnant in the present moment. And it is going to become worse because people depend to much on the governments and they are usually not educated properly to function as true capitalists. Most people are trained to be employees and have no idea how to be enterpreneurs. They get stuck as slaves of their bosses. Their bosses only give them enough to survive, just like it was given to slaves... That's why I always hated capitalism. The difference now is that I'm starting to see a possible path from capitalism to a system that is more inclusive of everyone.
