    Non-Mechanical Fan

Does anyone know anything (would love a link) about Non-Mechanical air blowers. I don't know something that uses ionized air and electrolysis to move air in large volumes without any moving parts. I’m wondering if someone is working on a silent air blower of such design.

I said non-mecahnical as in no moving parts!

Do you know for sure they exist? i am not even sure they could work. I know you can move boats by an electric field pushing the water backwards, but water has a dipole moment, but air?

You can ionize air and move it be feild gradent,

I once saw something like it on a show months ago, but can remember the name!

Yaaaaaa I was looking more for something used for cooling electronics. It would be attached to a heat sink and move air without any moving parts (thus silent)… I’m not talking about peltiers either I’m talking about moving air without any moving parts.
I have another site working on this problem as well:

Ion wind generators would suck for cooling equipment because their discharge always contains a degree of charged particles - a bad idea in close proximity to electronics.

But you're thinking of something like this.

    Thank you Stokes Pennwalt

Though I was thinking of having the "ion wind generator" down wind of the heat sink so the it sucks (rather then pushes) the air over the heat sink. I figured they would require very high voltages.
