China's boat... is it leaking?
I thought socialism was supposed to solve this!
That article talks about China's biggest threat, her 300 million or so men and women who are doing essentially nothing. Not helping the economy out and China is desperate to get them to work. The wealth ineqities in a socialist country like China is surprising, but not shocking. The new China is exemplified in Shanghai the finicial captial of the country.
Shanghai, Asia's New York?
You can almost smell the capitalism, you can sense the change in China. But the change has IMO expected consequences. With China destroying her enviroment for development, with her growing upper classes, even oligarchs. China is really giving up her socialist foundations. What surpirsed me was the lack of funding China gives her education, behind Uganda it seems. Also another problem China faces is her SOI's they are sucking money like a vacum in China. The borrowing craze of the 90's has put China in a dangerous position. Look what happened to Japans banks in the 90's for bad loans in the 80's. Also China is depending on FDI for her economic growth leaving her own businesses at a dis-advantage in stark contrast to India who has a increasing homegrown industries. There is no doubt in my mind that China can reach her goal of a $24 billion economy by 2020. But can China do it without sacrificing her principles even more?
Ra Bless America
China's just going through a rough spot in its history right now, it has been for the past few hundred years. Beyond the modern era, however, for thousands of years Chinese civilization was either tied or ahead of any other civilization on the planet in terms of virtually any bastion of society you could pick--technology, culture, science, etc etc etc.
They're a sleeping giant, and it won't be long before the US is no more than another Chinese vassal state.
