India in crisis as sectarian violence spreads Luke Harding in New Delhi Friday March 1, 2002 The Guardian ..............The disturbances across Gujarat were triggered by Wednesday's horrific attack by a crowd of Muslims on a train packed with Hindu activists on their way back from Ayodhya, the sleepy northern town where Hindu extremists are trying to build a temple. The incident took place when the train halted in Godhra, and the activists apparently refused to pay for tea and snacks from Muslim vendors. A Muslim mob then set light to their train. Fourteen children were among the dead, and 26 women. .............. O.K., tell me again how peaceful Muslims are. Muslims and Islamics are the most violent of all religions from what I see. If you support these religions, you are part of the problem.
Sounds like they were severely provoked, don't you think? The problem here is not one religion or the other, but fundamentalism.
