    Don't know if I posted this already. Thought of this at the beach

    This was more of a thought I uttered to a friend, which I turned into a poem while I slowly sunburned.

    Colors

    sargentlard

    Eyes closed,
    I am surrounded by serene black as it tip toes around me.
    Rested, I open my eyes and I am,
    enveloped by the sun kissed blue.
    As I lift my head from the pale glow sand,
    I gain sight of the quiet, thundering green.
    A smile begins to form on my face.
    I turn to my left to see the ever lasting you,
    There and then I realize,
    The colors of my life are complete.

    Pretend

    sargentlard

    Ours is a game of pretend.
    You pretend you're not scared,
    I pretend I am not angry,
    we both pretend nothing is wrong.
    We both smile, sit by the window and sip our coffee.
    For the time being, I love you,
    and for the time being you think you love me too.

    I like pretend. I think the first one has more depth, though I seem to relate to pretend more then I do your other one sargentlard. Both good though

    Cheers mate

    This was about the time I started to lose belief in god and religion....A weird transition in life....This is very old.

    Paper Flowers

    sargentlard

    We were the paper flowers
    In likeness of god.
    Promised great fortunes, and
    Thought’s piercing sword

    We came heavens blazing,
    We rose from the beast.
    Shed the cover of nature’s wild
    And kept it in hidden keeps.

    We were the paper flowers
    Natures last child
    To appease our content
    We caressd our inner wild.

    Smudged, torn and shredded
    The longer we grew
    Our strength in our pain
    We did what we did because he was true.

    Lost we are
    We were the paper flowers
    But look at us now
    Burned in our own power.

    Let the fire burn
    There are still a standing few
    But they are paper flowers,
    They’ll burn too

    Let them out and see
    the escaped, hidden truth
    The garden of our life is fading,
    Burning with us too.

    We were the paper flowers
    In god’s name we mend
    We are the crumbling ashes now
    In god’s name we shall end.

    INCUBUS LYRICS

    Just a Phase

    I am bottled fizzy water
    And you were shaking me up
    You are a fingernail running
    Down the chalkboard I thought
    I left in third grade
    Now my only consolation
    Is that this could not last forever
    Even though you're
    Singing and thinking how well
    You've got it made
    Who are you?
    And will you be through
    Yeah, it's just a phase
    It will be over soon
    Yeah, it's just a phase
    Yeah, it's just a phase

    Call it women's intuition
    But I think I'm
    Onto something here
    Temporaryism has been
    The black plague
    And the Jesus of our age
    I know that
    I sound opinionated
    May be biased and
    Quite possibly jaded
    But sooner than later
    They'll be throwing quarters
    At you on the stage

    Who are you?
    And will you be through
    Yeah, it's just a phase
    It will be over soon
    Yeah, it's just a phase
    Yeah, it's just a phase

    And I am waiting for
    It to be over too
    copywrited to incubus.. 2001

    Starlit sky

    sargentlard

    A starlit sky is the most marvelous carnival in the world and not a sound can be heard. It only echoes beauty, through it shimmering light and the soft breezes that sneak up upon us. It’s the most beautiful irony of all and the sweetest metaphor for love and humanity.

    All without a single word uttered.

    Rationalize

    In the dark the floor boards rattle
    and the wind creaks through the rotting wood.

    You live,
    you die,
    and in between
    the fury is the stream the animals drink from
    as decay sets in
    with the dirt and fog and poison,
    the bitter worms,
    the swamp swarming inch by inch
    from experience
    up the clearing
    where the structure stood.

    It rocked and bent to the bog
    saluting it's fierceness and greatness
    knowing it was more than it could stand.
    Like an old moral,
    or an old truth,
    sacrificed and let loose
    for some great cause,
    or some great lie.

    Dropped on its head
    the whole vast myth of existence
    wasted, violate crowds
    sucking at the barren tits of universities,
    fighting over used ideas
    there weren’t any sparks the first time
    so we light them again
    and wait…

    Bang!
    now someone’s missing two fingers,
    another an eye
    hopeful, the crowd covers their ears.

    Jesus is gone, nobody cares

    The sound of his name just brings indifferent stares.

    People grew tired of his vanishing act

    and finally decided he ain't coming back.

    Relieved of the burden of fancy and fable

    Society since brought great minds to the table

    Biological research brought extension to life

    To those who had once lived in pain and in strife

    Society still has its few who believe

    They cling to the myth that there is no reprieve

    They just sit and stare at the moon in great awe

    While men in white coats feed them meals through a straw.

    love has no color
    yet how deeply my life

    Yes, it's really beautiful, sarge.

    ------------------------

    Here's one I just wrote.
    One more of my which I have devoted to IRA.
    I have no idea why I write about that subject.. it's entrenched in my scull.
    Past life, huh?

    ------------------------

    [One more song to IRA]

    You said...:
    remeber quitars playing, strings breaking,
    and that shouting
    towards the sky, towards the end?

    I said: yes, listen, it's only screams now,
    and those guns, and those friends
    now dead, in this soil, cursed soil:
    I curse you!, curse you...

    And their bones are in a forever embrace
    with landmines, with soaked guns;
    this never fades, never fades
    away,
    can't get out, can't turn back,
    already knee deep in mud.

    And You too will never leave,
    this rain of led has ******** our blood;
    take my shouler,
    it is warm, still strong
    for now,
    let's go.

    Boy

    Sargentlard

    We moved the stars with our fingers
    and watch them take shape as the
    spaceships float on by

    All in a boy's dream

    We take gentle steps from one moon
    to the next and fall
    into an ocean of toys

    All in a boy's dream

    You enter his world as a moonlit silhouette
    and he dreams of us following the animals
    in the safari throughout the night.

    all in his dreams

    When each night passes he wakes up a man
    strong and willing, all untill you
    put your arms around him and smile like you do.
    Clock turns back and he is just a
    boy again, dreaming of you and I
    moving the stars with our fingers as
    the spaceships float on by.

    Dreaming of you makes him happy and
    whenever he is in your arms he
    is that boy he used to be...

    ...and I never want to let go.

    If

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with triumph and disaster
    And treat those two imposters just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breath a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

    the phone is silent,
    all lines are dead,
    people like little fish at every end -
    dead, dead,
    hanged, hooked to each other
    have annihilated themselves.

    modern age
    like every other that has been before
    won’t save, won’t help,
    won’t chase away the nightmares and screams
    won’t bring justice and peace,
    it’s up to you to leave

    go catch your plane,
    the cemetery awaits,
    there’s a gateway there,
    in your bed,
    there’s a gateway there
