Fundamentalist Christians are basically conservatives who think that the bible should be taken literally in all respects. This is actually impossible due to contradictions between different parts of the bible. The fundamentalists get around that by emphasizing certain parts of the bible (those which support their ultra-conservative views) and ignoring the other parts. They also ignore the numerous factual errors in the bible.
