NASA has no future. In the next few decades private organizations are going to take over the industry. It'll probably be compared to the illustrious Department of Fish and Game in years to come

If Mcdonald's wants to buy a pretty little picture on a spaceship for 50 million or whatever I would be all for it.

Poor NASA would have a hard time selling advertizing on space objects. Who would read them?
Now, tourist trips they could sell easily if there were any rich people left.

I think NASA should follow russia's lead and start selling trips into space. I think they should even sell trips to the moon if they could make a profit off it.

The original intention was for the shuttle to pay for itself by launching commercial payloads. The Challenger incident, and the thre times higher than expected cost, eliminated this idea.

Huh, didn't know that. I can see how the challenger disaster put a dent in those plans.

Interesting but not Fair enough.I think companies dont have enough money to invest on such big time Projects which may fail somehow.Do you know how much a single Launch of a Sattelite costs?...Its tooooo much for these Companies to afford.May be if Bill gates is Interested?...then something could happen, but at present many Businessman are just afraid to invest in such big projects where success rate is not very Competitive.
Space tourism is Okay. But it still requires lots of money. Many companies are coming forward with Space hotels IDEA and i think its a good thing to happen.NASA should folllow the suit.It will, soon do that i presume...
bye!

Nasa has no future. I heard the news live and the second it was confirmed posted at the World Events category. It seems the Shuttle crashed over Texas. Disintegrated with 7 passengers aboard. The Israeli has everyone thinking foul play is involved. Challenger killed the space program for a decade.

They still have people on the space station, and will continue to send shuttles up as neccessary. It is doubtful that Russia will stand-up to the plate. (Not sure if the Russian capsules can hold enough people anyhow)
