PM's... Private.???

    On forums like Sciforums... is it posible for owners to read PM's in other peoples inbox.???

    An Administrator to the Database could read messages written by people, however they would have to either do it manually through direct SQL queries or script something for the particular job itself. The forums software doesn't deal with any encryption other than the password Hash, so all information is stored in near enough plain text.

    Thanks... earlier i read whare a Mod an poster used email (insted of PM's) to discuss Sciforum issues an it made me qurious as to why that might be.!!!

    Ah no, that was in regards to the unofficial ticket system. It uses an email address to send responses from the ticket itself, unfortunately a slight slipup caused it to go beyond the ticket system (direct emails as opposed to using the ticket system), however hopefully that's been sorted out now.

    Anyhow... these days i guess its a toss up which is likely to be more private... email or PM's
