I've just found this link on another forum:

    http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/lending-friend-your-car-can-get-you-life-sentence?paging=off&current_page=1#bookmark

    Quote:

"Several years ago I read a piece in The New York Times by Adam Liptak about Ryan Holle. Ryan, who had no prior record, is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole in Florida. He was convicted of pre-meditated murder, even though no one, including the prosecutor, disputes that Ryan was asleep in his bed at home at the time of the crime. This could only happen in America, because we are the only country that retains the Felony Murder Rule."

    This is truly shocking, imo.

I hope his lawyers are appealing this case for it seems that he shouldn't be so harshly dealt with.

Unfortunately he's already spent 11 years in jail for this... it seems the best bet would be to put enough pressure on to cause a presidential pardon, since the local enforcement seems to have no desire to back down

Never lend or give any thing to anyone or you might go to prison. If someone asks you for directions to the bank, quickly walk away.

Geeze, Ryan Holle isn't even black!

Stay out of the South. The people there are even crazier than regular Americans.

Where do "regular Americans" live? Kansas? New York?

Maybe Chicago where a medical student is arrested for trying to check on the well being of someone passed out on the sidewalk.

I used to be a Navy Corpsman... That's a medic.

One day, I happened to be in a grocery store.

I saw a man fall out...

Checked him out, and he was in full cardiac arrest.

I applied CPR, this was a no brainer for me...

Now, anyone that knows a bit about this kinda thing, knows there's a definite chance of a broken rib or two... And, that's what happened.

Ingrate tried to sue me. Case was dismissed...

But, would I ever bother to help again?... Probably not. Just not worth it.

What a world we live in.

Just because you were a navy corpsman doesn't mean you nearly have to kill everyone.
How many of these so-called "heart attacks" have you seen?
