I have just installed a W7 over Vista and (so far) 2 keys are messed up. The @ and the " symbols need to get switched.

    1. What causes this? and more importantly
    2. How do I fix this?

I would suspect the wrong keyboard and/or language settings were chosen :

Open your control panel: If you are in Category view, click "Clock, Language, and Region", (If you are in the Icon view, just skip that step) then choose "Region and Language" and make sure under "Format" it is correct (for me, it'd be "English (United States)". Then, go to the "Keyboards and Languages" tab and click "Change", and make sure you have the same one chosen (Again, for me it's "English (United States)") More than likely, you have English US as the Language and English, UK for the Keyboard

Yes, that's what it was, it was set for UK, instead of US. Thanks...

I've run into that a few times... it's particularly aggravating when it gets set to a script language like Japanese... boy that can make things confusing XD
