Coming shortly, the greatest explorer in human history will be crowned. Voyager 1 has left the solar system.

Congratulations. And we are so amazed. Be well, distant friend.

    Alternate headline:

    CASH EJECTED FROM SOLAR SYSTEM

Scientists pleased to inform alien societies of unknown intent of our location and relative meatiness

    Just saying.

Combined cost of voyager 1 and 2 is about 988 million.

Averge cost of the Afganastan war is about 10.45 million / hour.

So if we end the war 4 days early we will have paid for this scientific achievement, and we won't even be killing people.

The Final Frontier ... Until the Next One

Well, right, but we're not the New York Post.

I'd go with something more toward the evolutionary:

Between the Stars, a New Dawn
Human species achieves new paradigm: Interstellar Explorers

    Congratulations, humanity.

    And thank you, Voyager.

youreyes, you or I or anyone should not presume to know why Tiassa would Post something mixing fiction and unproven conjecture as if it was factual.
Tiassa may have Posted : quote - "Human species achieves new paradigm: Interstellar Explorers" - unquote ; for any number of reasons. And adding the tweeted inane comments of an Iconic Canadian Actor, possibly best known for his longtime portrayal of a fictional Gene Roddenberry character, again, may have been for all anyone except Tassa knows - just an ill-conceived afterthought.
Tiassa may have Posted all of that out of, for instance, arrogance, ignorance, naivety, self grandiosity, puerility, or heck just plain old stupidity. Who knows for sure - except possibly Tiassa.

I don't think this will end up the way foreseen by the Prophet Roddenberry either, but I do agree it is notable, in a sense. Two, even.

WTF? What part was conjecture or not factual?

What in the world is your problem? Seems like you are kind of 'losing it' a little bit.

which is why I want to glance into the mind of the writer to know the origin of the thought itself.

    What Now?

Look, if Putin is complaining about the Voyager twins, he can go screw. Seriously, how can he possibly complain this time? Did they take pictures of Uranus without his permission?

And to the chagrin to some, without breaking a single crystal sphere.

origin, the "part(s that were) conjecture or not factual" - the Voyager 1 has yet to completely leave Sol's heliosphere, it is finally reaching into the heliopause.
There are still some who know that it will not actually reach Interstellar Space until it gets to the other side of the Oort Cloud which lies at the farthest reaches of our Solar System. As a note of fact it still has, at its current speed, nearly 3,000 years to go until it reaches the inner or closest part of the Oort Cloud - then another 27,000 years or so after that to reach truly Interstellar Space.

"The Oort cloud is an immense spherical cloud surrounding the planetary system and extending approximately 3 light years, about 30 trillion kilometers from the Sun". - from link Posted at bottom.

Evidently there is a world (pun intended) of difference between what people think and what scientists know - for instance where do you think Comets originate from and how far out from the sun do you think the last vestiges of it's gravity still affect objects ?

BTW, what verified proof does anyone anywhere have that we are the Paradigm of a species sending an object of exploration outside of their home Solar System?

...so...origin, should I ask you, what in the solar system is your problem - no - that would be "kind of 'losing it' a little bit."!

Something tells me that we don't have much to fear from anyone who's first indication of man's existence is stumbling upon Voyager 1 while a mere 56 AU from Earth.

So moderators can get away with comments like that? Or you free roam this establishment while you jaculate and gesticulate?
