Do people get used to questionaires?

Hi,

I have a simple question and I'm not pleased with the answers I get at college

Do people get used to questionaires? With that I mean if I have a questionaire and give it to people 1990, 1995,2000,2005,2010,2015... do they fill it out differently? Do people get used to fill out such questionaires and may fill it out more "positive" or "negative"?

I mostly interested in sociology or psychology or that kind of questionaires where it's more about feelings and emotions

it isnt
its just that we discussed it for so long now and there have only been predicitons and the normal arguments u will expect. nothing of value where u can say hey we need to correct some results with the factor x because of the times changing

Well, as I used to date a Psychologist when I was a student, I have filled out dozens of the things, had electrodes attached to my brain, been given reaction tests, had the motion of my eyes monitored reading text and examining images, I was a guinea pig for a while, and I can tell you yes, people get used to questionnaires.

It's such a problem, people's opinion can be subtly altered by the questionnaire they are filling out, and so 'control questions' are used, that ask the same question phrased different ways several times, so variance in response can be judged. This also helps filter out people that are just ticking boxes and can't really be bothered. The more questionnaires you fill out, the more you'll spot the control questions, so the more uniform you'll answer, but that may be at the cost of honesty.

I find that any questionnaires can be very misleading for many reasons. If you were to ask the same question to people in different areas you'd get different results, say the questions were asked to a predominately Democratic city as opposed to a Republican city, the answers would be very different in most cases. That is why many times questions are asked to only certain types of people to get answers that those giving out the questions want to hear.

but the main question here is if because people fill out so many questionaires every day they tend more likely to give more positive or more negative answers than they did before.

in scientific words: if we fix all variables and only change the amount of questionaires filled out will the results change?

Do people get used to questionnaires?

Certainly I have reached the point where I will respond to very few of them because they utilize my time and energy as I give considerable thought to my responses. The telephone surveys no longer get my time because one never knows at the outset just how long they are going to take or who you are speaking to.

Paper questionnaires are my preference because I can do an on-line search to determine their validity and relevance to my life.
