Diablo 3 questions
I spoke to a friend recently who has been playing d3 for awhile now and he said the best part of the game is the auction house and selling items. I have already beaten inferno, and now slowly i'm starting to think he's right.
Diablo 3's story was good but i felt it didn't make any leaps in creativity from diablo 2 storywise.
I have tried the auction house and real money auction house. It's pretty good but i'm not sure if blizzard intended that to be the best part of the game.

I have bought 1 thing from the hardcore auction house and tried selling on normal both real and gold but to be honest I might buy on the gold one but would NEVER buy from the real one. In my opinion if you do your a sucker

I wasn't sure where to post this to be honest. I saw a gaming clan thread on here so i thought i'd post it on here. But yeah, RMAH is a bit risky.

CC it says computer science and CULTURE. Gaming comes under culture so why shouldn't it be here, DON'T SCARE OFF THE NOOBIES
It's not that it's risky, it's that I find it sad. Why would you rather just spend real hard earned money to skip ahead, just play through it and FIND what you want. My father in law and I play together and we have 2 sets of characters on the go so when we find gear that the other one could use we give it to them, if not we sell it.
What annoys me is the way blizzard are pushing people to use the auction houses. They massively undervalue the amount of gold you get for selling items ingame which forces you to sell through either AH

Just about everything comes under culture, but I suspect the intent was to mean computer science culture... which is an entirely different beast. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gaming, but that is more of an entertainment-ish category.
Moast people like to claim they want a challenge but what they really want is to have it easy and pretend it's a challenge. I presume the same rules hold for gaming and I suspect Blizzard knows this, so they are going to make extra cash off of this kind of person.

Stop being pedantic, gaming has always been located here since Thor was mod and it still is. Sure it COULD go under art but then gaming tends to wander between the software and the hardware. Unles the mods chose to rule that it shouldn't be placed here leave it can go here. Once again attacking a Noob over something that has been common practice is poor form
Anyway back to the thread sure people want to cheat and sure blizzard are exploiting that but there is a limit to that and blizzard have found it themselves. I was reading an artical which was talking about the drop off of players which is far exceeding what they were expecting and the reasons. Blizzard themselves are admitting that the fault lies in the replayability being poor because it just becomes a scavenger hunt and can't sustain long term interest. I had a friend of a friend look at my time and say "you have played for 90 hours, why are you not level 60 yet?" and the reason is because once I hit nightmare I really lost intrest in pushing forward, insted it became just something to do socially with my fatherinlaw so I went back and helped him build up HIS character to nightmare or I tried to farm events insted of pushing through the game 4 times, what was the point? The ability upgrades past level 30 are lame

I have no idea who Thor is but I would ask the question... If I want to discuss wine should I just make posts in the Biology subforum until the mods decide it should go elsewhere? Also, you are really going to have to explain how asking the question "How is this thread about computer science?" becomes "Attacking a noob".
Wish I could comment on that, but it's like seeing a foreign language.

Uh huh. Just an innocent question, there.
As if there are never any semi 'off topic' threads in any of these fora, art and health inclusive.
Blizzard lost all of the original Diablo artists, writers, development team and hired all new staff to develop D3, according to my younger friends who are more attentive to such things than I. While I have a copy on this machine, I also have Skyrim. Twice I have fired up D3 only to watch the updates and patches download, then I switched to Skyrim to play. Why? Because Skyrim is very engaging and extremely complex. The art is great, the music themes good and there are many 'come ons' that start and keep the player wondering how long until he/she gets to move on that quest.
I picked up the original Diablo back when it was first released and found it highly entertaining. D2 and the expansion D2 pack brought the game up to almost epic status for engagement and challenge. The drumroll teasers/trailers & release delays went on too long for D3 though, and many of us gamers who had already gotten heavily into Skyrim have done as I did - bought D3 but not started to play it due to previous engagement with Skyrim, which is very hard to compete against.
The D3 auction house stuff is just do much hooey in my humble opinion. If you want an item, play the game until you get the item - or not. That is part of the draw, when you can just buy your' way through there is much less challenge to the gameplay. Something to be seriously considered if you are a game developer.
If somebody wants to slap this sukka into the Art forum and let Frag take it on they should do it. While they are there they can move out all of the non - art peripheral stuff that is there too.
