If my participation generates even a few pence of the estimated return, I do not begrudge those who provide this forum. I have had much pleasure and knowledge gained and no monies out of my pocket, while they have had the headache of spammers and malcontents to contend with. Yes, this site is based in Canada, but I also bring down the price of real estate on a couple of other forums that are based in countries outside my homeland.

As for those who might be concerned that they have 'intellectual property' that is of value, then I would expect they would also be wise enough not to tip their hand in a public venue.

The monthly costs incurred by internet forums vary. The main expenses revolve around purchasing/maintaining a server, host fees, and the fees associated with purchasing/upgrading the vB software. I was an Admin at a board far larger than SF. Our base-line cost was $275 USD per month to flawlessly operate the board 24/7. We were very transparent vis-a-vis the costs associated with running the forum and fortunately, voluntary member donations almost always defrayed the monthly expenses. Another hidden cost is the time required of the Admins (server-side) and the moderators (client-side) to operate/maintain an Internet board. This generous investment is far more time-consuming than is readily apparent from the member perspective.

I can't read the date, very well. An there is no mobil phone option. Still think the change sucks... There is less color than before. The site seems to have lost ..?dnk a certain quality it had.
I still want to go back to the "old style" that I'm used to.
Proof that a mobil phone can't post as quick as before, an that this change sucks so far is obvious. I use my phone. An I'm not posting like I was.
