What kind of pre assesment does a lab assistant position involve?
I have been invited for an interview and just wondering what kind of pre assesment will be involved for a medical lab assistant in a pathology dept?

I don't know the details now, and it may vary with place. A long time ago, i was a histology technician, and that required certification (two-year course in college or equivalency exam). An assistant may not need much technical knowledge: might just have to shift equipment and fill containers. It would probably help to know your way around hazardous materials (particularly as to disposal protocol) and understand safety precautions (particularly as to infection control). If it's not a skilled position, they shouldn't require any previous knowledge, but will probably train in their own procedures. In that case, they're looking for alertness; the ability to listen, focus and be neat.
