No Supporting Evidence for NIST WTC 7 Theory?

It appears that there is no scientific supporting evidence whatsoever for NIST's theory that fire brought down WTC 7 on 9/11.

Computer models are a valid form of experiment but only when the model actually models reality and only when the model can be independently verified for errors. The NIST WTC 7 model looks nothing like the actual collapse since the building falls slower in the model, there is no 2.25 second free fall period and it shows massive deformations that were not seen in the actual building.

NIST refuses to release the model parameters for independent verification because it "might jeopardize public safety".

If this theory has no evidence whatsoever to support it why do so many scientists and engineers believe it is true?
