Thrive: what on earth will it take?

Anyone see that documentary? My question is what is really stopping a united human front? I don't really like getting in the same boat as conspiracy theorist nuts because often they end up attacking those simply trying to do good the best way they know how. Why are we dependant on harmful energy sources for so many years. Whats with all the genocide, famine, epidemics, and wars. We are the same species so why don't we act like it?

We are fractured from old games.
We are at the end of a very old and long game, which many subsequent semi-old and newer games were spawned from. Some of the semi-old games are simultaneously coming to fruition. Some of the shorter new strategies are not working. Also, the old game that is concluding probably is not having the outcome it was initially intended to instill. Plans overlap, predictions change, somebody throws a wrench into the works. All these things.

Conspiracy theorist nuts are banking on a cooked up "prediction" that they are just following up on. More complexity for a united front to deal with.
Do we have enough new technology to end the need to protect ourselves from the stated problems above?
