Supermoon

A full moon at perigee (closest to the Earth) is called a Supermoon. Such an occurrence happens tonight (5/5). The photo above captures tonight's Supermoon over the Temple of Poseidon southeast of Athens.

Thanks. Nice pic. I had a clear sky and it came up on me as a surprise, so it was good to see your post.

I wonder why it looks so massive on the horizon, but not so much higher in the sky.

I was up at 5 AM this morning and the moon was in the west and looked very large but not really much different than any other new moons to me.
It looked like this where I live although this isn't a picture that I took but rather somewhere else and someone else which depicts what I saw.
