For reasons that are both intimate and complex in my own life i shall by the end of April resign from SciForums. Post whatever you want as a response to this wheather it be negative or postive. On personal note i would like to adress the members of the forums: To all the atheist, agnostics, apatheist, anti-theist and or general free thinkers, please don't let the theist, apologist, and or religious get away with posting any bullshit, fight them every step of the way. sincerely Saturnine Pariah.

One really doesn't need to fight anybody. If one is correct in their perspective,
you own the ground under those who have poor understanding of the subject.
I know what I speak, being the resident balloon-popper here. hheheh

Oh good. You want the theists to be good theists. Very commendable.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves. ~ Will Rogers

There is no hidden meaning in the quotation other than to wish you to be one of the first two choices. Best of wishes until you return one day.

If this has something to do with your difficultly interacting with certain theists (or spiritualists, or whatever title they feel like rejecting today), let me just say that you shouldn't let it defeat you. I have been here since 2003, and at times have found myself frustrated with the lack of consistent moderation, the allowance of trolls to poison the forums with their intellectually dishonest crap, and stepped away at various time because of it. But I always come back, because there are some tremendous posters here who need to be read.

I have a friend, even older than myself, who recently gave up all forum participation. He had been a very active poster for some years - eloquent, thoughtful and passionate on the big-picture subjects. Aside from a few ah-ha! moments shared with bright youngsters, he found it a sisyphean labour. Worst of all, he was often attacked by the evil clown and big dog types; at first welcomed and respected by the clique, then turned-on and swarmed. Having good intentions, of course he found this repeating cycle of events bewildering, then painful, then hopeless.
He never mastered the trick of not caring.

    How eloquently stated, Jeeves.

I don't think it may be possible for a concerned and empathetic individual to 'not care'.

Even in remaining professional, objective and logical, one uses an incredible amount of energy in keeping their own 'fight or flight' instinct reined in.

I most often refrain from debate simply because I do not care to invest the energy.

One will never change the mind of another.

The other will do so only if and when it suits their own purposes.

I have not learned how to 'not care' but I have learned to walk away and ignore most jibes.

Those who know me, understand that it is not fear of engagement and for those who don't, it matters not.

    Another day, another engagement....somewhere.....some 'when'.

I thank you for the boot of confidence...however the reason for my leaving is much more complex than some random theist on an internet forum..hopefully i can reslove them and return.

Thanks for pointing that out, Trooper. I had overlooked the link as it was not underlined. My bad.

    What's to tell?

When I don't understand something or feel hurt and confused, I just go somewhere else to regain my sense of balance and to hopefully not injure others.

That my absence or refusal to engage may affront some is the lessor of two evils, in my opinion.
