Thread: Muslim Woman Barred from Ride

  1. #81
they told her she couldn't wear it on the ride. You act like they held her down and stripped it off her head. Us yanks have signs that say "no shoes, no shirt, no service" We have rules about what you can wear and what you can. Don't like it don't come here, or lawfully try to have the rules changed.
Throwing a hissy fit is not how you do it

Other countries have rules we don't like but are expected to follow.

If it was an isolated incident maybe. But Muslim women have been wearing the hijab for a very long time and its amazing how dangerous its become in the last ten years - its surprising that any Muslims are left alive to wear it.

you've never come up against a frivolous US lawsuit. Insurance companies try and cover each and every base now. Its why head covering isn't allowed. Not hijabs only.

Actually you yanks have a very poor track record of following other cultures norms, ie the bikins, taking photos in churchs ect but that is beside the point, what would your comments be if the owner said "your shirt is to loose, take it off" *wink wink leeh*?

Hmm are there any frivolous lawsuits about making women strip against their religious beliefs?

Yes, it is besides the point, but that never seems to stop you...ever!
So you are saying they were asked to remove their scarves because the ride operator was a perv??

I bet there will be now

How is it any different than going to a nudist colony and then throwing fit when they ask you to remove your clothing. rules are rules. If you don't want to follow them, don't go there.

And some say - Rules are there to be broken!

This really depends on when you're talking about.

During Pax Romana, Romans were relatively open towards other people's cultures, so long as they lived within the law. The 100s were considered by many to be a wonderful time to live in the Roman's Empire. Did Greeks loose their language? No. Their Gods, their Goddesses? No. As a Citizen one could travel freely on good roads, take bank loans using credit, worship as one saw fit, etc... it was pretty decent times all things considered.

The Quote is of course from a Xian referring to Roman Xians. See, Xians were then, in Roma, celebrating the One God on dies Saturni "Saturn's Day" aka the Sabbath [it should be noted Romans had an 8 day week that was changing over to a 7 day week]. The advice was to do your Christ thingys on dies Saturni instead of the Lords' Day as was the custom in the East.

So, when in Rome do as the Romans do, is actually a Christian saying.

Sure, as Romans became more Christian they certainly became more intolerant of other people's cultures and belief systems culminating in Justinian closing the Neoplatonic School in Athens and exiling all the Philosophers to Persia where there the Persian Zoroastrian Emperor built one of the world's grandest libraries to preserve what was left of "Pagan" Philosophy and culture. Muslims often like to suggest it was "Islam" that preserved Greek culture. Which you now know is actually just more historical revisionism as they attempted to make up a foundation myth, aka: Mohammad and the Magical Flying Horse.... pffff that is some funny stuff... lol

If you visit a Japanese Onsen you will remove ALL of your clothing if you want to enter the spa and sit there. If you do not do so, you will probably be asked to do so. Not doing so will be pissing off every person in the Onsen. You may even be asked to leave or barred from coming again. Oh, but according to you Japanese should be the ones to change their culture so some douche' bag who wants to wear pants in a spa because their BIG Sky Daddy tells them so can do so?

No f*cking way. That is pure bullshit dripping asinine. Because of people like you, we're having a huge backlash. People must conform to some aspects of the new country they move to live in. If they don't feel comfortable, then simply don't move there.

This park is a private business and can set it's own rules. The owner says no hats on rides, then guess what - take your god damn hat off if you want to ride a ride. You want to wear a Burka and eat a kabab on the rides, go build your own amusement park. No one is stopping you.

"Yanks" have a habit of ignoring local culture? What kind of bullshit is that? Firstly, "Yanks" is a derogatory slur. Secondly, it's not "Yanks". It's the owner of this Amusement Park. Thirdly, Muslims can ride rides all day long. Fourthly, guess what, we don't have a culture of wearing Burka's and we don't have to accept it either, but we do don't we? A LOT of people hate seeing women in Burkas. All sorts of people hate it. I know Chinese who hate seeing it. Japanese who hate seeing it. Not to mention nearly every single Australian.
    But, they tolerate it.
    It's not illegal.
That can NOT be said of some other counties were it's illegal (ILLEGAL) to even drive on certain public highways if you don't worship the local Sky Daddy (BIG Sky Daddy). Oh, but it's "Yanks" and "Aussies" who are insensitive to other people's cultures.

I'm greatly looking forward to the coming decade, it will be very interesting to see how far progressives can continue to climb up into their own anuses. I don't think to much farther TTYTT.

It was 2000 years ago Asguard. What planet do you live on? LaLa land?

See, it wasn't like it is now where you can crawl up your own anus and live a live as a leech sucking on the Government's dole-teet. Back then if you didn't farm, or run a religious racket, or work, you didn't eat.

Low level Philosophers often worked as Slaves/tutors to rich families to live a decent life. The Emperor's private garrison was Germanic Slaves. You know, the people charged with protecting his life. They had a good life. Many Gladiators had good lives. Celebrity. It really just depended on your situation, much like today. Yes, some people lived dirt poor - just like today.

Both of my grandmothers wore scarfs over her hair. It was a very normal thing to do 50 years ago. Then, following women getting the right to vote, they tossed away their headscarfs and a generation went on to wear short skirts etc... including Muslim Americans (which there were few). See, as immigrant they tried to, and were, integrated into society. It was only recently when the second generation of Muslim American women started to wear scarfs. Why? Probably because they were/are becoming secular along with the rest of Western society. It seem to me that the parents, those same parents who as kids wore short mini skirts and had a lot of sex, are now trying to raise their kids to be more religious. It's the pendulum swinging back and forth. So, now we see more muslims wearing headscarfs. I lived next to the largest Muslim comunitee in the USA, more than many girls do NOT wear head scarfs. Most don't and most don't really care that much about religion.

Thankfully people are less and less religious and this little blip on the radar won't even be remembered in the coming generation.
