$6.00 gas. Sleep on it- it'll be reality within the decade.

The implications of this are all-encompassing- the price of everything, everywhere in the USA will go up proportionetly.

We are really headed down a bad road- I need to obsess over the premise a bit.

This is why I say the crash is coming. The world was gut shot last time gas spiked and the next time will be like a shot to the head and finish the economic engine off. We as humans need to be brain storming now on how and what we will replace the system with. Just about everyone in this generation figured inflation would stay at a somewhat predictable rate and we based our retirement off of the idea of it . Sorry I did my part to throw a wrench into the machinery . Time for a change . Move forward not backwards

Makes more economic sense than spending a Trillion dollars and rising in the past ten years trying to control the Middle East.
If the US just pays the price required and works on renewable sources, it will cost less in the long run.

In the UK we are paying £1.25 per litre.
$6 a gallon. We'd love some of that cheap petrol.

But you have allot of tax added to that amount, if your taxes were lower you'd be paying less than America or maybe the same.

It will go higher until two things happen, the revolutions in the Mideast get under control and the price of gold drops. Remember when just over 1.5 years ago the price was 50.00 US a barrel? Now they say inflation isn't happening but oil is over 100.00 a barrel and going up. Another problem is the weak dollar, it keeps losing value because they keep printing more money and that only drives the value DOWN. So that must also be taken care of by cutting spending and increasing taxes to some of the people.

But we have a system here that does that already, its called Social Security. It has been helping millions for decades to insure that people get help they need. There's also Medicare and Medicade which does even more to help those who need it. We do not pay half the taxes you do, at least not as yet.

Off Topic, so I'll allow you the last reply.
Yes if you are in a good enough job, or poor, you are covered. But many people in the middle lose everything. Possibly Obama's new law has changed this.

Wait a second , you make a statement that says
So now your saying that we don't have socialism and we take care of most everyone that works here or has worked here. So what's so great about socialism then if we can do it without it? I don't see your point at all.
