Are Empty Store Shelves Coming to America?
I was wondering how long most people could go without buying food and essentials and just living on what's in the house.

It certainly couldn't hurt to keep some essentials in your house - regardless.
As an avid Zombiephile I should have a bit more of a supply

I have an ample supply if a hurricane ever hits. I can last about a monrh if I really streched it. I bought my rations here.

I keep a supply of canned goods. Besides, my sister runs a subsistence farm. Hogs. Cattle. Lots of chickens.
Also, I'm not worried. I happen to believe that our government is intentionally tanking the dollar. Not a spoken conspiracy, just an unspoken acceptance among the elite at the top. Unlike most Europeans who readily shed their national currencies, the USA (like Britain with the Pound) won't let go of the Dollar willingly. Destroying it, and then saying, "My fellow Americans. In order to stave off hyper-inflation and disaster, we need to join a currency union with our neighbors in NAFTA and form a new, stronger money that will have the respect of the whole world.
Government jobs are at stake. Nobody will starve, but the day is coming when we'll be saying "Syonara!" to the Dollar.

If hyperinflation hits you can bet I'll fight over the bottled water too.
