Carjackers have real guns with real bullets too and if you spit in their face while they are stealing your car they will kill you. I can't blame anybody for wanting to spit in the carjackers face but doing so would be stupid unless they wanted to be a Martyr.
But some people are stupid enough to spit in a carjackers face.

Nobody is listening to each other, both sides are playing "poor victims" and they expect rest of the world must take a side. What is the point of this thread? It makes no sense more than a Star Wars vs Star Trek debate.

Well I understand about putting the media light on collective punishment, and it is collective punishment in terms of having the whole population in Gaza suffer for Hamas and its actions. But if they wanted to push Egypt into temporarily opening their borders why didn't they just take the stuff into Egypt and try and attempt to cross the border?

I would agree with the analogy if the vessels were a cruise ship on their way to Barbados. As it stands the vessels were heading into what they KNEW would be a situation whereby the Israeli's would stop the vessels. Why wouldn't the Israeli's attempt to stop them and seize their cargo? Would you have been satisfied if the Israeli's had waited until they entered their waters and then board the ship and seize the cargo? Are soldiers, ANY SOLDIER , supposed to allow themselves to be attacked? What would you do if you were a soldier and someone came at you with a crow bar?
They didn't just spit at these soldiers they attacked them.
If you fuck around with armed men you should be prepared to get shot.

I thought the soldiers attacked them first and they just defended themselves. Now when everyone knows they are liars, instead of criticizig them for that the new argument is: "But the isreali are known.."
They were caught lying red handed and they attacked the soldiers to die as martyrs. End of story.

Well if the truth is so important to you explain this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZlSS...os=sWZkOJV4dpY
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...cmpid=nl-news1Had they gotten them ready before the attack?
Yes, they got them ready before.
As this was going on, a helicopter approached, and people knew they were going to try to take over the ship. Lots of people then tried to stand around the captain [on the bridge] to stand in their way.
I was not directly under the helicopter, but I could see things quite clearly: First one commando, then another descended.
People rushed the first commando and they overpowered him.
No, it was just basically hand-to-hand combat. You have to realize there were about 25 or 30 people fighting with this guy, and they overpowered him and disarmed him. Then they threw him onto the deck below. How? Did they use wooden clubs or metal rods or anything?
And they didn’t use any weapons at all when they were doing this?
No, none at all.

And look at how long the SW vs ST thread has become.
I agree in a sense that it doesn't make sense to go on about Israel vs. Palestine as the two sides never meet in the middle and all the jibber jabber (my own included) doesn't amount to a hill of beans covered in cow dung. It certainly doesn't change US policy nor help bring peace or resolve conflict nor does it ever amount to pertinent information on the subject. All the same things get said over and over.
For some posters here the issue is their pet project.

That was previously tried and Egypt managed to stop that without killing anybody. I think they beat some people up but that event was not as newsworthy.

Well said, Lucysnow.
Supporters of one "side" or the other on this forum have mostly lost the ability to see the wood for the trees. They spend their time whining about the latest great wrong committed by the "other side", while ignoring all wrongs committed by their own preferred side. They believe that taking a hard-line position will lead to progress, despite the fact that no progress has resulted from that approach in 50 years. They don't believe in a middle ground; one side must win all, take all, be all. And then there are also, for some, the ulterior motives. Support Israel not because you believe in a Jewish homeland, but because you hate Islam or Arabs or whatever. Support Palestine not because you believe in a Palestinian homeland, but because you hate America, or you're anti-semitic, or you consider yourself the self-appointed champion of the "underdog", despite never actually doing anything except jabbering. Who knows? Perhaps you're a nutty End-Times "Christian" who thinks that if the Palestinians are wiped out then it will open the way for the End Times to come, with the return of Jesus, who of course will choose you to go to heaven.
Whatever the reason, these people have lost any obejctivity they might have once had. They don't care about facts any more. They only really care about using "new" information to create new spin for their favorite crusade.
