Questions about the moon landing
Just a few questions for the rocketry wizards here.
How much was the total payload for the Apollo 11 mission? (I think it was Apollo 11.)
How much could a Saturn V lift?
How much can a shuttle such as Columbia lift?
How much can the Russian shuttle Buran lift?
How much can other modern non-reusable rockets lift?
By now I guess you can see where I'm going with this. Do we still produce machines with the lifting capacity we had back then? For example could we now put people on the moon, with currently available rockets?

Adam ...
"How much can the Russian shuttle Buran lift?"
Nothing!
Thanks to the fact that the Energia rocket has sufficient lift, the
Buran only needs rocket power for maneuvering and de-orbiting.
Take a look: http://k26.com/buran/Info/A_Comparis...omparison.html
Take care

Re. 'How much could a Saturn V lift?'
Roughly 285,000 lb to LEO and 107,000 lb. to the Moon.
That is, if they haven't made some improvements lately.
Take care
