Is there a word for this manoeuvre?

Is there a word for that thing he does at 3:07, where he clings to the pole and throws his body out in an X shape??

Hehe, yeah, I want to do that manoeuvre, but my core strength is nonexistent.

Seriously though, is there a proper word for it??

No. But we could name it ourselves. I'd go for The Uber-X-Cyber-Hike-II.

Hehehe, that sounds impressive, but it's kinda long

    How about just Uber-X?

That will require very tight back and abs with arms of steel. It is going to take a lot of practice to get that one down. It may be a 'males only' technique due to the arm muscle requirements. Women have a very hard time building up that much arm muscle. Most guys cannot do that - I certainly couldn't, not in my wildest dreams.

I just managed to do this on my metal bunk bed, yay! I only held it for about 5/6 seconds, but I did one nonetheless. Everyone hug me!

I don't actually have a problem with arm strength. I'm ok with my upper body strength, my core muscles are pretty much just jelly, though.

    At which frame?

Reminds me of Mirror's Edge. So, any super cool move would naturally be called A Mirror's Edge

I believe strippers call it the "flagpole" or a variation of it.

Oh, now I am really pissed off!!

I shall now only ever do that move wearing baggy clothes and a face mask.

She isn't doing a full X, though, just clinging sideways to the pole.

its actually the fore arm muscles.

You mean it mainly puts stress on your forearm muscles??

I don't find that at all...

Thanks for the link. The move is actually called the flag; the flag pole (or half flag as it's more commonly known these days) in the gallery is *much* easier to do.

visceral_instinct, if you managed to hold it for 5 or 6 seconds then that's very impressive - most people can't do it at all. (I certainly can't.)

Here's a video ( youtube.com/watch?v=JmHtLycyIvQ ) of Dominic Lacasse holding the flag for 39 seconds. It's a common move in (male) Chinese pole performances if you want to see some amazing routines with it in (Dominic Lacasse again youtube.com/watch?v=eXEFvqYdDa4 ).

I don't know what the maneuver from the OP is called, but I'm intrigued by athletes who can perform these feats.
