its not a redneck state. I agree its a dump but not a state. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I've been to all states on the list except Montana. And Texas is by far NOT the most redneck. I think the majority of people who voted for Texas have never actually been to Texas
stfu, I live in Texas. We have the largest tech industry, if we were our own country we would produce around 6300 megawatts of power, most of that from the super massive wind farms we have, some have blades that are 800 feet long, and I mean the actual spinning blades, imagine how tall they are. If we were our own country we would be ranked 6th place in the world in the amount of energy produced by wind power. UT is one of the top schools in the country. Practically every major tech industry has a base here, there is literally a large AMD facility half a mile from my school. Houston is the third largest city in the US I believe, and is about to overtake Chicago. Do you honestly think we wanted to get into this assinine war with the Iraqis? In Austin Texas we are the 2nd healthiest city in the US.
Hi, I live in New York. The most populous city in the country is here. It's called New York City. The second largest is Los Angeles, California, followed by Chicago, Illinois. Don't be worry, I'm sure you guys will catch up with the big boys some day. Also, the leading high tech export state is California, not Texas. You forgot to mention that Texas is also the fattest state in the USA, officially speaking. I REPEAT: Texas is, per capita, home to the most fat slobs and slobettes in the entire country. Way to go. There's a real source of pride for ya. Hahahahah. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I guess they don't have google in NYC: The top 10 fattest states in America are: Mississippi (32% of adults are obese) Alabama (30.3%) Tennessee (30.1%) Louisiana (29.8%) West Virginia (29.5%) Arkansas (28.7%) South Carolina (28.4%) Georgia (28.2%) Oklahoma (28.1%) Texas (28.1%)
You're right... my info is dated. Texas is number 10 in that department and now instead, Texas has most of the fattest cities in the country, which might be somewhat better than flat-out having the most fat people in the country, as they did several years ago or so, when I last looked it up. The point is still very clear: Texas is home to a disproportionate amount of gross, self-serving fatbodies. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
And yet I live in the second healthiest city. We have more fortune five hundred companies than any state. We also are home to two global cities
It wasn't always a derogatory term (like many current slurs), in fact among some Canadian farmers it still retains it's original meaning: A guy that works his ass off, farming in the field everyday, growing food/livestock. (For himself and ungrateful civilization).
Fedr, if you wiki *any* state, you'll find some list of esoteric accolades used by statist enthusiasts who want to grandstand. I can't help but notice you having an irrational need to defend your horrible, hick state of Texas. Do you identify strongly with your state or something? Do you view an attack upon the hick state of Texas as an attack upon your personal values? You aren't alone. Norsefire felt that way about the hick state of Texas too. I don't see a whole lot of people that have a problem with it though. This is what dictionary.com says: red⋅neck /ˈrɛdˌnɛk/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [red-nek] Show IPA Informal: Often Disparaging. –noun 1. an uneducated white farm laborer, esp. from the South. 2. a bigot or reactionary, esp. from the rural working class. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/redneck Anyhow, you would have a good point if the word was used as a personal insult. I'll allow its general use.
Once upon a time, a lot of people didn't have a problem with the word "nigger". Does that mean a thread with "nigger" in the title is okay as long as it wasn't used as a personal insult?
