Socialism will get its first-ever face in the US Senate on Thursday when veteran Vermont politician Bernard "Bernie" Sanders takes a seat in the powerful upper house of the legislature. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070102/ts_alt_afp/uspoliticspartiessocialist well, what do you people make of this?
The article brands him in a positive light so he seems to not be what we think of when we think of, say, Ted Haggard or Karl Rove (why are those two in the same sentence? I don't know).
From the article (bold added): "Running officially as an independent but never hiding his socialist ideas, he trounced a businessman who spent seven million dollars of his own fortune in the race." Now just tell me what y'all think about a man who has amassed that kind of wealth, yet holds a socialist viewpoint? Y'all don't find that hippo-critical in any way, shape or form? Baron Max
Oooh, sorry!! I guess I didn't read it that way ....shit, forgive me! But with that little blurb, it still makes me wonder how wealthy Sanders, the socialist, really is. In this nation, it takes a helluva lot of money to win an election. How much of it was his personal fortune? And how can he spend that much money on an election while still holding the views of a socialist? Baron Max
i thought you said he was a socialist? sounds like the same old capitalist ideal to me; the rich control everything while the poor receive the bare minimum so that they can continue to amass a fortune for their masters.
Hehe I actually agree with you here. He doesn't seem to be a socialist at all - and we're all happy for that! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Maybe he's some kind of "Wanna-be-socialist-but-I-live-in-USA"
Bernie Sanders is one of our best statesman. He has been a Democratic Socialist for many years, and he will be a great Senator.
To be perfectly honest: I hope someone litterally kills him. NOTE: I am not provoking or advocating the taking of this action, only wishing that it would occur. For both legal reasons and others, I am noting this.
How much is he worth, Spider? What's his personal wealth? And if he has any personal wealth, then why isn't he spending it all in order to help all those poor, impoverished people in his area of the country? Oh, wait ......I know .....he wants me and all other taxpayers to do what he's unwilling to do himself. Isn't that right? Baron Max
"Enlightenment" means to give away all of ones own wealth to others? ...even those who refuse to work and make their own living? If so, I sure as hell don't want to be "enlightened"!! thanks anyway! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Baron Max
Socialism isn't a personal code, it's an approach to government. Therefore it makes no difference that he might have some personal wealth. Prince James, you should be ashamed of yourself. You're a vulture.
