I'll put it bluntly, the more you worry about yourself, your mentality, your environment, your work. The more self absorbed you become, the more needy you appear to others.

If you just have quick think about the animal kingdom, Note the birds. You'll find with most species of birds, the male has really colorful plumage, the males sing, the males go out of their way to make nests. The reason they do all this is because they want to attract a mate, the mate (female) in this case is looking for specific things. They want someone visual/physically attractive, they want someone that is "chirpy", they want someone that's able to take care of them and of course their offspring.

Now I'm not saying these are all the traits that human females look for in fellows, I mean obviously most people as open minded as they try to be are quite shallow in the sense that appearance does count (How someone looks and takes care of themselves counts), however they can be attracted for a persons mind, their sense of humour (ergo, "Chirpy" which usually means "Happy go lucky" and "Carefree" which self-absorbed depression isn't.) and even by their heart being in the right place.

As for building a nest... Well thats not something women want right away, I mean if you are the right guy I'm sure they would love a nice build up before a crescendo. Obviously though what I'm mentioning here is if you are looking for a relationship not a one night stand, I don't (care to) know anything about them as they are pretty overrated.

With this in mind I'm not suggesting you go out there and do everything a woman asks you to do (Read Charles Dickens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Dickens) - "David Copperfield" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Copperfield_%28novel%29) to understand why) however I'd suggest being open to compromise. (Men in General) So there is always room for compromise from them too.

darksidZz, remember you have to learn to walk before you can run. Look for a friend that happens to be female, build a relationship from that friendship and sex will come with mutual trust. Most women don't like to be viewed as a piece of meat, so don't approach every woman with sex as the obvious objective. Try to make her laugh and be happy when with you, don't rush things when you are inexperienced in relationships. Like I said, asshat :p , get the girl in the shop to help you choose.

I used to be the most unconfident awkward person you could meet. Then I just basically said "Fuck it. I hate where my life is going right now" and I turned my life around. I started taking chances. I started going to social gatherings. I started drinking. I took a chance one afternoon, by talking to a girl I thought was way out of my league, and guess what - we started going out. From then on, I had more self-esteem than I ever had.

You certainly aren't a bad-looking guy. That's not your problem. You just have to take a few chances here and there. Get some self-confidence. If you think you can't get a girl, then you probably can't. But if you actively seek one, with the attitude that you can, then you will.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. If you are unhappy with being lonely, then do something about it! I guarantee that whatever measures you have to take are going to be less uncomfortable than you feel now.
