Should we mail you some chewing gum to help out?

Welcome home, or at least to wherever you are.

Nice, sciforums are back. :)
Greetings to all old forumers. Let's see how many have made it. :D

What a warm cozy feeling this place has.
What a tortuous month without the old hallowed halls.

Thanks much for the email you sent me explaining what happened, Porfiry. I must admit that I was beginning to worry again...

Insanity knew what the score was. That forum was the liveliest it's ever been during the past month. And I, for one, don't intend to utterly abandon it.

Did you post there Southstar? An assumed identity? Or were you just a voyeur?

Ah. You were Perfect, weren't you?
Or were you pretending to be Craterchains?

You know what's sad?
When I first logged in here, I saw Dixon already here.
He must have been frantic that the labor of his lifetime was wiped out. I bet he has "slight problem with the database" etched on his brain. I only checked in a couple of times a day after finding a new place to post. (And after learning that it was going to be at least a month's absence.)

Quick. Delete his thread and really make him cry!!
Kidding.

I bet Denke will be back before too long as well. He always got more responses here than in any other forum I've found him in. The religious of this forum just can't resist his poking and prodding.

Let's hope we lose at least a few of the crackpots and kiddies.
*fingers crossed*

Garry poked his head up at thescienceforum. I am sure he will return here as well.

Of course I like him because he pisses off the fundies, the self-righteous and the dogmatic. And he's interesting.

Wow, I was starting to wonder what happened. I had visions of stern men in black suits and ID badges knocking on the door with questions of who posted what and when. ... My tenuous relationship with subversives here come to haunt me...

Would you like to share the tragedy with us ?

Porfiry

Pretty simple really - everything went to hell just as I wandered off into the wastelands of North Africa. I'm back in civilization now, so hopefully I can keep this ship afloat for a bit longer.

Somehow it seems strange though to start again after a gap of a month or so. The continuity has been lost, and for an old man such as me that is so utterly disturbing (putting on some extra drama here).

Hope that there will be lots of controversial threads to get me into the mood again....the sciforum mood.

Interesting.
I just noticed that the the feedback and support forums for Porf's software is gone.
I don't know why it's interesting.
But, it is interesting to say 'interesting'.
Also words like 'provocative' and 'hmmm'.
*Nods knowingly and scratches chin*

Anyway. Just an observation.

Southstar,

But I did enjoy watching you throw up a sandstorm over not getting enough respect.

It wasn't respect I was after. It was appreciation.
And I never did get it.
Assholes.
(You might find it interesting that I was offered the mod position that those in power kept mistakenly believing I was digging for. I turned it down, of course. I wouldn't accept less than carte blanche and I was obviously not getting it there. I'm still kinda pissed that I was also asked to recommend a moderator and my advice was ignored altogether. Harumph!)

and Invert: It was indeed funny to say the least to see someone so twisted by deprivation of appreciation, but the real problem here was in my eyes a subconsious state that made you feel this way: the loss of Sciforums! :)

Glad we found everything here in place, even the appreciation!

Hi guys! And to Dave W, thanks for the email, if you sent one to every member it must have cost an arm and a leg in bandwidth!

I'm finally starting to realize how much I missed this place. Apparently, I'm a junkie searching for a fix. Cable news, for instance, just isn't pure enough horsepucky for my needs. Hell, I'm surprised; it's somehow comforting to get up every day and read through that much silliness.

Hi guys! And to Dave W, thanks for the email, if you sent one to every member it must have cost an arm and a leg in bandwidth!
I'm sure he did send one to everyone. I received one, and I haven't made nearly the impact on the forums as most other members.

Oh and it's sort of old news and we've all been back for a few days now, but it's nice to be back (as I said in the other "wtf happened to sciforums" topic).

invert_nexus
06-02-05, 10:10 PM
Yeah. I guess he did. The account that I have for my contact account here is basically my spam account so I never checked it until reading the thank you's. At first I thought that more people had gotten the email explaining that it went down at the beginning. Because I tracked down his email address and sent off a query and got a response about him going to Africa and that nothing could be done for a month. So, I thought that people were talking about them getting the same kind of email. But, I know for a fact that everybody didn't get [/i]that[/i] email. So it was then I realized that there was another email going around. (Why am I saying all this? Blah blah blah)

Anyway, this is kinda interesting in that people that haven't been around for years are showing back up because of the update.

Too bad I'm not really in the posting mood. Maybe I'll catch posting fever eventually.
