hey guys, my school is htinknig abotu maknig a 8th period in my school nevet year, without making the school dayl noger, shortining classes, if anyhting i think thye should be making classes longer, do you think id get in trouble for writing a little report about my thoughts on it? or do you thin ki could get suspeded or dispined for having my own opinion?

also do you think i could get in trouble for asking for a compleat teacher book on the sections and articles of the school rules? do you think thed want to know why id want them, because hhonestly i only want them to see what i can and cant do, the rules we know are very to the point and doesent say what we can exactly do and i thought it would help me better uunderstand the rules. do you think they would belvie me if i told them that?

thanks for your opinioons id advance ^^

8 periods? that is absolutely ridiculous, we have 5 here, and even that is to many. the more periods they try to cram in per day, the more time it takes to travel between and prepare for classes, and the more time they take away from education.

if they really want their students to learn, then they should reduce the number of periods per day, and space them out over the week, that way you get more time in each class and you are able to carry out an experiment, or play a sports game, or write an essay, whatever it is that you are doing, without having to leave it and return the next day after having completely lost your train of thought on the matter.

the reason they are doing this, is because *their students arent able to concentrate for a full hour or more. they either need to start reading incentives, and promote teaching methods which hold students attention, or invest in a helluva lot of ritilan, either way, its their problem, and the students shouldnt suffer because of it.

* i say their students, because i have never before seen a case where more than 2 or 3 student per class have ever had this problem, and if it is so widespread that they need to completely restructure the school to accomodate for these students, then obviously they are doing something wrong.

oh, and i think youll find that as long as you arent being profane in your criticisms, they have no right at all to persecute you for excercising your right to free speech

(if they do attemp to punish you or halt this action, then direct them to articles 19 and 20 of the universal declaration of human rights)

riku, do you feel like you have rights, as a student? particularly a right to speak your mind? compared to adults? I've often wondered what high school was like today versus the late 80's when I was a high school student. Are there studies done that monitor what and how kids are taught?

Well, a keyboarding class may really help.
But I think 8 periods in one day (right?) is ridiculous. I like block scheduling (for the most part. I don't like the hard classes like math or a foreign language since we go too fast). We only have 4 periods a day.
speaking of school policies, high schools should start at least an hour later. it has been proven to raise grades, and we want sleep! we want sleep! we want sleep!
it's biological. You can't blame us. (teens should get about 9.75 hours of sleep a day, and our circadian rythm is different than adults. We have to go to sleep and wake up later and later. having to wake up before the sun is up is cruel and unusual punishment, especially for teens)
