I have an expressvu 3100 reciever with s-video output. Would it be possible to make this into s-video input so that I could connect it to my computer, and spit the output of the computer onto the TV, through the reciever? (the TV itself does not have S-video)
The reciever remote has 'auxillary,' 'sattelite,' 'vcr' and 'TV' options on the top. Will selecting one of those change it to s-video input?
-Thanks
also-------I'd like to stay away from 's-video to RCA,' so please don't suggest that :)

No, that will not work. Check to see if your TV has an svideo input. If it doesn't you pretty much can't do what you want without using rca to svideo.

yes hmmm
it sounds impossible
unless there is a transformation on the computer
by card+software from svideo to cvbs(composite)
and yr card has rca(cvbs) output jack.
again, it sounds impossible
so there is something else
an svideo to composite converter box
again,it sounds impossible
because new technology my dear friend
is not converted back to old(composite video)
The only option i recommend is buy a new/used tv
with svideo input
even then digital tv is going to render it absolete
sooner than you think
these days i find tvs for free in the streets even
with svideo inputs
again again, progress, progress,progress
and money,money,money,money
win!!!!!!!

on second thought
i think it could be done
simply by connecting the c-signal and y-signal lines
together onto an rca plug and also the ground line
onto both blugs
for more details go to a search engine and type
svideo to composite circuit
try different keywords

Thanks for the responses, guys :m:
Just as I thought.. Its not impossible, but extremely difficult. Actually, the TV is fairly modern (late 90's,) so I was shocked to see it missing s-video. We have an almost identical model in the house, and the only real difference between the two is an s-video component (conspiracy!). Guess I'll have to wait till mainstream HDTV before getting my nerdy entertainment system, but thanks for the link philocrazy. Interesting stuff
