Does anyone use the report thing?

I just called PM [deleted] or something because he made fun of the holocaust.

Should I just have been nice and report the post? Does reporting do any good? And is it ethical?

I don't get the report thingys. Does it even work with other mods? Cause I don't get crap unless people PM me.

I report occasionaly. I did it once and the person I reported knew it was me. How does it work?

Once, I decided to report all the posts in one thread that were inappropriate.

I reported maybe seven of thirteen posts. Heh... :bugeye:

Can I report myself? A lot of my posts are useless and something needs to be done.

Don't worry; I just did it for you.

What happens when a post is reported anyway?

I once "reported" one of crazymikey's posts where he plagerized an entire web article with no commentary. All but a link to the article was promptly edited to conform to the rules. I don't know if this was a result of my "report," but it sure felt good.

When you report a post, an email gets sent to the moderator of the forum in question.

In my case, the email address the report gets sent to isn't one I check very often. If you want quick action, you're better off sending me a PM.

Who do we PM in a mod-less forum? Or one where the mod hasn't been active in 6 months or more? I think I saw somewhere that Goofyfish is a supermod, is he the one to contact?

One unanswered question still: would you consider it unethical to report posts? Is it similar to being a snitch?

James, thanks for that bit of info. I guess that's why I get those emails...
