chris beacham 07-06-02, 02:46 PM Hi all,
I have posted some images from a recent sighting ....

new visitors to my site may click: (home) for more images....
James R 07-06-02, 10:22 PM Looks like a cloud, doesn't it?
Hi again, Chris. :)
About the new pics-
I think the object was a meteor. anyway, i will try to find astronomical maps of 24 June over Australia.
Groove on  .
Nice pictures of cirrus clouds.

You are talking about those "ice" clouds which are placed high in the sky. Probably not in this case, in my opinion.
Have u seen the last pic?
It doesn't look like any cloud. On the right of that object we can see a very strange line. I wonder what could it be? :bugeye:
Northwind 07-07-02, 04:01 PM Wow, look at all the Photoshop blur filters in action....
Northwind! What a horrible suggestion....
It's obviously Paint Shop Pro, not Photoshop.

Bebelina 07-07-02, 06:18 PM What can we really trust anymore?
I mean, even if aliens landed, right on international TV, allowed us to kill one of them and examine the body and its internal alien organs, talked in a very different language, looked very different from us, had four arms or whatever, could show us extremely advanced technology....we still would not believe it...well, I would, but I'm talking about the rest of you...:D
Because everything can be manufactured by humans. It sais something about how far we have evolved technologically, but how little we have evolved emotionally. People don't trust anything, not even their own experiences. What does that leave them with? With the conviction that life is made up of lies? Manufactured by who/what? And why?
And any answer given to that question would also be considered a lie.
chris beacham 07-07-02, 07:54 PM Hi all,
Thanks all for your viewpoints......
The images are what I say they are, and while I don't have time to go through and pick all the best ones from that day, I did post a couple of enhanced versions of what is posted....
chris beacham 07-07-02, 09:36 PM "Northwind:

Wow, Northwind, let's see you do one...
"Xev:

Is it obviously Paint shop Pro? I thought it was a Nikon Coolpix with a Celestron scope attached. OK let's see you put your mind where your mouth is and find a fake image on my site also.....

Put up or shut up
I have been a visitor to the northern beaches chasing a fish or two and an advocate for further study regarding the UFO phenomenom. But I'm sorry to say those pics and others in your site COULD be no more than cloud formations naturally occurring due to the high and low pressure streams coming from the ocean meeting the oposite pressure coming from the surrounding land mass/cliffs
Thats my opinion... But keep up the vigulant work son.

Actually, that is the sort of extraordinary evidence us skeptics would like to see. Taking an image of a torch being waved up and down, digitised and smeared in an image editing programme is not evidence.

That is indeed the modern day problem. We now know how to fabricate just about anything using advanced materials and software. Anything can be faked.
Fundamentally though, most people don't realise the P.T. Barnum was correct when he said 'There's one born every minute'. People are easily fooled, they always have been and doubtless always will.
The problem with us skeptics is that we question everything, including ourselves.

No Chris, a cirrus cloud, not an ice cloud. Would you like me to provide a meteorology link that you may brush up on cloud types ?
Have u seen the last pic?

Actually, your pics are looking a lot less like cloud formations and more like what others are referring; smears and blurs created with enhanced software. That strange line could be a portion of a cloud with the sun reflecting. Could be....
Of course, it is highly unlikely it is what you claim it to be.
OK let's see you put your mind where your mouth is and find a fake image on my site also.....
You know very well that it is quite difficult to detect such things.

Telling Xev what to do is generally a very baaaaaaad idea. ;)

Not good enough. But just as I thought, one more lost soul polluting this field of interest....
However, I must say I am enjoying this. I guess you could say it's good practice for when I release my CD ROM.
- Just for the record, I have shot about 8 hours of video, 10 mins of film, and about 8000 images. Given that I am a 56 year old director of my own company in the Surfing industry, I see no need why I would risk my career by involving myself in anything dishonest.
Next please......?

There is nothing dishonest about trying to sell X-Ray vision glasses and sea-monkeys to kids, but it's done all the time. It's all about a fools money and how quickly it departs the fool. You'll be happy to know there is an abundance of irrational, gullible people with lots of money. ;)
chris beacham 07-08-02, 01:46 PM (Q)
Do you really think I am the only witness to these sightings...?
chris
Do you really think I am the only witness to these sightings...?
Perhaps not. Perhaps those same clouds may pass by my locale and I can also witness them. ;)
However, the fact you admit to being a director of media places you as a most likely candidate to successfully manipulate images with software. If not you specifically, then you must have connections to professionals who have the ability and resources to do so.

I did not say I was a director of a media company. I do not use computer programs at work. I design surfboards and fin systems. You may see some of my work (and pics) at my old site.http://www.firehorse.com.au/insidesurfin/ When the craft started appearing at my local surf spot I started taking other pictures ....it's really that simple:
If any one else wishes to accuse me of fraudently representing images to be something they are not, for financial gain, I would ask the same from them as any other reasonable person - evidence please.

The original negatives would have to be examined by professionals and compared with the net pics. Are you willing to send them to a UFO debunking agency for verification ?
chris beacham 07-08-02, 04:32 PM (Q)
I expect, no, I demand that all the material is examined by the 'experts'.
As a matter of fact, much of it has already passed inspection by some of the biggest names of this area of research already. If it hadn't, you would probably have heard many disparaging remarks about me already from other websites.
Thanks for a relevant response......
Cris Beachem:

Really? Who are these "names"? What "area of research"? UFOlogy? Why should we believe people advocating the same things you do, i.e that UFOs are alien craft? What "websites" would disparage you?
Inquiring minds wish to know.
Bebelina 07-08-02, 07:37 PM Well, if we assume that aliens are already here, mingling with humans, then why would they not let us know this?
Or , if we assume aliens don't exist at all, then why do so many claim to have seen them?
And, why debate the accuracy of a photo, when we all know that we can never prove it to be a false or true refelction of the alleged object?
chris beacham 07-08-02, 09:10 PM Thanks for the responses ( and more thanks to those who didn't...)
I won't be responding to any more posts on this thread. I hope the images will offer some insight into a world/dimension we know little about. After two years I find it all very easy to accept now.
I look foreward to releasing my CD, and then disappearing back to the waves....

Most cranks and crackpots usually give up when they can't find irrational people to help take up their cause or agree with their theories or are backed into a corner when pressed to provide evidence. Better luck next time, I'm sure we'll be hearing more from you, and seeing more wispy cloud pics.
I hope the images will offer some insight into a world/dimension we know little about.
Clouds are not exactly a world/dimension most know little about.
After two years I find it all very easy to accept now.
Are you saying you're now lost forever in your own delusions ?
I look foreward to releasing my CD, and then disappearing back to the waves....
We'll all be waiting on pins and needles for the reviews. I hope you won't be too dissapointed.
Q:

I dunno. I've never used Photoshop blur filters. ;)

To all the crackpots I've debunked before
Who travelled in and out our door
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the crackpots I've debunked before
To all the cranks I once giggled at
And may I say I've laughed with the best
For helping me to know
Posters such as the Q
To all the crackpots I've debunked before
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the cranks who've disturbed my sanity
Who now are annoying others with their inanity
I'm glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the crackpots I've debunked before
To all the nutters who annoyed the hell out of me
Who filled my posts with agony
They live within my heart
I'll always be a part
Of all the crackpots I've debunked before
(Dear sweet christ, I hope not)
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the crackpots we've debunked before
Who travelled in and out our doors
We're glad they came along
We dedicate this song
To all the crackpots we've debunked before
To all the crackpots we've debunked before
Who travelled in and out our doors
We're glad they came along
We dedicate this song
To all the crackpots we've debunked before
Banshee 07-09-02, 04:06 PM Chris Beacham, thanx for posting your pictures of your sightings.:)
I suggest to the people who are making it a personal attack to the poster, to back off and leave him be.
There's no use in putting someone down, just because you see it differently and have other opinions about the subject.
Again, this is Pseudo Science as you very well know.
Stay ontopic, do not ridicule a poster because of his/her posts.
Then take your issues to another Forum.
Chris, by all means, keep on posting...:)
Banshee
I suggest to the people who are making it a personal attack to the poster, to back off and leave him be.
I've seen no personal attacks. Did someone call Chris names ? Did someone say he was stupid or arrogant or otherwise ? Please point out the personal attacks.
There's no use in putting someone down, just because you see it differently and have other opinions about the subject.
We are not 'putting someone down.' We are criticizing the obvious flaws in his conclusions to the pictures he has misrepresented as alien crafts. It is his decision to post said pics and it is our right to offer our opinions.
Stay ontopic, do not ridicule a poster because of his/her posts.
I believe every post was on topic unless you can point out otherwise. Please point out the ridicule.
Then take your issues to another Forum.
What issues are you referring ?
Chris, by all means, keep on posting...
I agree. Chris should keep on posting. No one asked or forced him to stop. He was backed into a corner to provide evidence but instead decided to stop posting. I would conclude from that he is falsifying photos or taking pictures of Cirrus clouds and submitting as UFO sightings.
There is really no need for you to have a hissy-fit.
Bebelina 07-09-02, 05:10 PM And what was that Q, but a hissy-fit from you?
If that was a hissy fit, then I shall make bold to speak for the ladies of Sciforums:
Please do continue with the hissy-fits, Q. I so adore reading them.
Banshee:
Personal attacks? Where? I sang a song. I actually have a rather nice mezzo-soprano.
Big deal.
Bebelina 07-09-02, 05:38 PM Do not speak for the ladies of sciforums Xev, speak only for yourself. If anyone then wants to agree with you, let them do so on their own.
As I pointed out before, it is no point discussing what the photos are showing in a serious manner, because it would take a very complicated process to find out, and the answer would still not be 100 % certain. Why do you then still keep debating it?
But then on the other hand, what are you discussing? Nothing really, you are only harrasing this person, talking to him in a degrading manner, insinuating that he's a crackpot.
Yes, you are sooo smart....

chris beacham 07-09-02, 08:46 PM Thanks for your support Banshee, but I stopped posting on that thread
because I found myself talking to Q and Zev(not the two smartest people I've met online...). I didn't have time to talk to Bebelina yet.
I posted those images on purpose to show people what a sighting can look like without effects. If you see (or shoot..) a pic like those ones... work on it. Shooting 2500mm at 1/15 sec is a hit and miss affair with a moving craft. If I had shot it at 1/1000 sec it would have been too dark, but with sharper detail. Gifs don't show much... I will post some more pics when I have time but I am really busy at the moment.
I did post pic of another sighting on that page, but don't have time to find times, shutter speeds etc.
Please don't take me for a fool and call it lightning.....
chris

The crank and/or crackpot always resorts to personal attacks when their theories are exposed that they no longer can support.
I posted those images on purpose to show people what a sighting can look like without effects.
Then you admit the picture is not doctored. It must therefore be a cloud.
Please don't take me for a fool and call it lightning.....
Now one is calling you a fool. But if the picture is that of lightning and you claim it to be an alien craft, you would be labeled a crank.

Of course (Q), marked and labeled. There is more than meets your "scientific" eye.
It is very narrow minded to mark and label people who see with different eyes than you do. That's cool, it is your opinion. Just an opinion, nothing more.
You do not hold the absolute truth because you rely on scientific proven facts.
It only shows your being insecure about unexplained phenomena. Go ahead and be comfortable with what you can control.

Ah, the will to power. I love it!
Seriously though, since when were cirrus clouds "unexplained phenomena"?
Bebelina 07-10-02, 03:16 PM "Now one is calling you a fool." Was that a deliberate "typo"? An attempt to make a "sublime" insult? I think so, until Q scientifically can prove otherwise. :D

A cloud is a cloud is a cloud. I've seen elephants and flamingos in the shape of clouds. Is that what you're referring ? Is Chris simply seeing shapes of what he considers alien crafts ? If so, then he can only be labeled as having a vivid imagination.
It only shows your being insecure about unexplained phenomena.
I didn't know Cirrus clouds were unexplained phenomena. You've got me worried now.
Go ahead and be comfortable with what you can control.
I think you're stating the obvious. Who can say they're comfortable with that they cannot control ?
Bebelina
"Now one is calling you a fool." Was that a deliberate "typo"? An attempt to make a "sublime" insult? I think so, until Q scientifically can prove otherwise.
Thanks for pointing out the typo. It was not deliberate.
BTW - could you astral project yourself over for a pool party this weekend ?
Bebelina 07-10-02, 04:38 PM Sure, no problems, where's the party?
Bebelina
Here's the general location, just go to the harbor at the entrance to Paradise Lake and ask for the Q.
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/world_cities/nassau.jpg
Bebelina 07-10-02, 06:18 PM I will. ;)
Q, are you insulting her or trying to chat her up? :p
Bebelina:
Forums are often used for debate, so naturally, I debate.
Clear enough, honey?
Bebelina 07-10-02, 06:51 PM Yes honey, but you are debating with arguments that has no value in this particular issue, as I pointed out before. Should I point it out again, or can you press the back button by yourself?
Oh, and don't get jelous now, you know quite well that Q likes me better than you anyway. ;)
Bebelina:
Your arguments were inane beyond comparision, which comes as no suprise, as they came from you. :)
As for the Q, he's sort of a mystery, isn't he? Alls we know is that he's exceedingly intelligent and has good taste in cars.
Again, I advise you to either:
A: Learn how to flirt online or
B: Find the attention of males in the mundane world and wallow in it.
Believe me Bebelina, I am no threat to you. Can't we just get along?
Bebelina 07-10-02, 07:13 PM Sure, we can get along, if you drop the obnoxious attitude. Which is not likely to happen, since it is the most apparent feature of your online persona. Besides, I have no interest in Q, I only said that to tease you, and see, I succeeded. :D
Sorry Q, you know I'm too good for you, don't you, dearest? ;)
Xev, you seem to assume a little bit too much about who I am, please don't, because you couldn't be further away from the truth.
Instead of saying my arguments were inane( which in itself is a very inane argument) why don't you point out exactly what was inane about them, so we can have an intelligent discussion about the subject? Perhaps without degrading comments, personal attacks and the word "fuck", however decorative you may find that combination of letters? :)
Is it a deal honey?
I thought this was a debate about a "sighting."
Seems to have evolved into two girls fighting over a guy.
*Sits back and enjoys the show*
Northwind 07-10-02, 09:38 PM Hmmm...lemme see, (Q) questions the photos (not the person who posted them, but the evidence itself) as being flimsy and easily explainable by other means. Said person whines and cries about being attacked and having his integrity questioned, then Banshee (a name most appropriate, given the level of wailing) scolds (Q) for attacking chris (which (Q) did not do anyway). Subsequently, chris insults both (Q) and Xev directly, saying "not the two smartest people I have met online". in this instance, Banshee's wailing is noticably absent, as she fails to call chris on his actual, personal, and direct attack.
Banshee, if you cannot separate your own opinions from your duties as a moderator, perhaps you should resign your position or avoid posting in threads which touch you too deeply.
Banshee 07-10-02, 11:23 PM Northwind, I hardly think it insulting to say to a person they are not the smartest. Man, get real. I've been called a lot worse and it is still on the boards. Have a good time finding that particular posts.
From here on it is back ontopic.
Maybe you could change your attitude Northwind...

HAHA. Yes, you fail miserably at every turn to do your job, and that is MY fault. Priceless.

Those websites contain pictures of cirrus clouds. A ciouple of the pictures mentioned at the start of this thread do have similarities to some forms of cirrus clouds. I have seen some odd weather effects now and then, but I am not sure I have an explanation for the intense glowing bits in a couple of those pictures, unless one can modify the brightness/contrast of a photo to produce such effects. However, as I said, there are similarities to some forms of cirrus clouds. That does not make them cirrus clouds. Skepticism is good, but absolute certainty based on vague similarity is useless, especially to those claiming to be rational.
Maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but the entire UFOs/spaceships matter is one more thing going into my Undecided tray.
Here is a picture of a cirrus cloud. I see a lot of simularity.
