hey people, some time in the near future (could be this week, could be four!) I have to do my 'prefect speech' for school. The prefect speech can be on the topic of your choosing, and I decided I wanted to talk about the fact that you must question everything that happens around you, and ask why; eg. why did the US invade Afghanistan and Iraq? why did Bush have the Bin Laden family flown out of the country at a time when no aircraft were authorized to fly?
anyway I was thinking of talking about how you should ask questions and wonder why etc. and then maybe bring in a good example or two of a time people turned their backs on something, didn't question or ignored it and as a consequence it was allowed to continue and something catastrophic (holocaust or similar?) occured as a result.
Any input/suggestions on an example where people sat back and did nothing and as a result worsened their situation will be much appreciated.
I'm a high school student in my final year, in Australia, if that makes any difference!
