a cockroach is supposed to be the most enviromently tolerable thing on earth regarding climate change and temperature! why not try a few thousand on mars to see there reaction!! views???

aaah they still need Oxygen and mars gots none... thye need food to as well as temps for them to be able to move around without freezing solid.

Robotic roaches would be kind of sweet though.

thats is where you are wrong mars does have oxygen 1 10,000th of marses atmosphere is o2 and 1 300,0000000 is o3 so there is oxygen but not enough i meant cockroaches in some sort of tank to see how they handle 6 millibars of pressure as earth is 1000 millibars i wondered if cockroaches could handle the pressure change! with a food and oxygen supply

The is not enough oxygen to support a coarch there.

Forgive me or totally correct one, I meant to say not any viable quantities of oxygen. Unless Coaches can move about fine on glycolysis I don't see this happening.

so it would not be able to motabilize glucose is that what u are trying to say? do u know if the cockroaches body goes through the glucose breaking down process (glycolysis)?

No what I’m saying is it would not be able to produce enough energy from glycolysis to move around let alone live... Maybe some state of deep hibernation but that’s it.

i can see u r a bright person wellcookedfetus can u tell me why glycolysis would be affected?

Glycolysis would not be affected (well at those temperatures it would be but lets leave that variable out) Glycolysis and fermentation do not produce enough energy for Higher-life Forms like cockroaches. The Kreb Cycle and Electron transport chains are needed and they require oxygen as an oxidizer. To put it in numbers: Glycolysis only produces 2 ATP (Only 2% of the energy of glucose extracted) will the Kreb Cycle and Electron transport produce 34 ATP (40% of the energy in glucose extracted). Aerobic energy also produces much needed heat for run Biosynthesis pathways.

thanks mate now i see what u are saying!! what do u think of the problem of mamals living on mars as we might have a gravity gene so we cant stay in diffrnt gravitational forces as it causes damage to the brain and body. so they are trying to create a false gravity chamber for space travel!

It not one gene that sets us for earthly gravity. Are bodies are not designer for zero gravity... but as of yet no studies have been done as to show what effects 38% earth gravity would have on people. I can say for certain that permanent atrophy of both muscle and bone could be expected.

Let's marsify the earth instead of terraforming mars, this way we get rid of the cockroches!
