i need to reinstall my OS, windows XP. in the past when i have tried to do reinstall and to upgrade to SP2 i get this problem with @ and ". each is where the other should be. it is really annoying and i had to reinstall the original Discs i got with the pc but these are not the SP2 discs. any body know why this is happening or if there is a way to prevent it?
there where some other keys in the wrong place but i cant really recall which ones. any ideas?
thanks. i got my answers though, well a solution. i can download the SP2 upgrade from MS site if i have original product ID for my XP os, i have so it is okay. ;)

Possibly during setup, you didn't enter enough detail regarding regional/language options. You can do it after installation.
Go to:
Control Panel/Regional Options/Languages/Details/Add
Check the "keyboard/IME" option and change it to UK or UK extended.
Don't know if this will be the problem as I'm not sure of British KB layouts, but I recently had a Swedish tourist come in with a similar problem, easily fixed.
yeah, i think the KB layout is most likely the problem but i have practically done the install now with the upgrade from the microsoft website. i will remember for next time though. thanks
