I hate to say it Apocalypse, but he's right. The only way EU is not Canon is if it contradicts the movies.
That's what fans always say about Star Trek books. But it ain't so; whether we like it or not. Besides, it is illogical to say SW books are canon because they don't follow the actual continuity, they have an INTERNAL continuity - ergo, a separate continuity is actually contradictory; therefore their validity as canon, is negated.

Omega is right actually. The starwars books were approved by George lucas and they all are part of one big storyline. They were meant to fit together like a puzzle one series takes place right after another. I mean by the way as in one series may take place a year after Return of the Jedi then the next will be based off that one and will start two years after Return of the Jedi. So unfortunetly they are canon Apocalypse.

Yeah, but they are not if they contradict the movies in any way. Just take out the parts that contradict and you got canon :D
They aren't just approved by him, they are licensed by him.

Some of the books are purely canon others have some things wrong with them but not much. Just sort out the differances and take them out and....BINGO, it's canon.

Actually, this is a myth. George Lucas does not "approve" the books, and in fact hasn't read any of them (he has read some of the comics, and that's about it). Lucas Licensing, a subsidiary/child company of Lucasfilms, Ltd., licenses authors to write SW books, but Lucas himself does not "approve" the books, let alone each book individually (if he did, you'd have a helluva time getting authors to write for him, because he would probably meddle in the story, etc. as much as he does with the CGI series, which would drive most decent authors crazy).
Lucas Licensing maintains its own internal canon policy for the Star Wars: Expanded Universe material, which is distinct and separate from the canon policy of George Lucas and Lucasfilms, Ltd. re: the official Star Wars saga. Some Lucasfilms, Ltd./Lucas Licensing employees (such as Leland Chee) try to mesh the two universes (SW and SW:EU) together as much as possible, but the two ARE separate.

Uh... EU is part of canon, how fucking hard is this to understand? And nice of you to ignore my link ONCE MORE.

And you have shown to not understand math, scale, physics, or 1st grade common logic.
Umm.....but his claims does contradict the movies.....
Quite a few yes.

Not always. Besides, if they are not canon then do we assume that the Yuzahnn Vong aren't real? Or the Zann Consortium?

Well, if it's your version of math, scale, physics, and logic, then nobody BUT you can understand it... it's too deranged.

No, I expressly stated that I would put together a response when I have a couple hours or more free time to sit down and go through it and put together a proper, full-length response, instead of the 10- to 20-minute drop-in statements I've tossed out the last few days (and realistically, it's probably going to be something like 4+ hours to put a proper, character-limit-testing response together, after going through everything, verifying what I can for myself, etc.). I don't HAVE that much spare time during the week because I work a full-time job monday through friday, and I am also trying to find a replacement roommate and get ready to start classes again by the end of the month. Excuse me if I do not have the time to cater to the particulars of your desired schedule. I will get to it over the weekend, if I have time.
