the term 'junk food' mean food rthat isprocessed and/or issaturated with unhealthy amounts of fats, bad fats, sugar, salt, chemical additives, etc

do you eat this kind of food? sometimes?
    all the time?

if you do do. why do you?
are you having to because ou find it difficult to know what is right to eat? and/or you find good natrual food too expenive or hard to obtain.
do you eat junk food for convenience cause its easy to make--just shoeit in the microwave...?

if you have hildren, do you let them have junk food. even though you may have heard of te dangers of eating it. especially for developning children

do you eat junk food cause its 'cool'? cause not doing is a middle class hing in your opinion

loads of questions there. you dnt have to answer al of course. but i am curious about this which is why i've startted it off...

I just ate a packet of crisps, which I rarely do. I never eat McDonalds, because I hate the taste of it, and I would have to give up my title of 'Communist' Hamster, the big M being against communism somehow. I eat biscuits sometimes, which aren't really that much of a junk food.

I try hard to eat healthy now that I go to college and can feed myself. When i was little i ate it all the time because my parents were never there and my mom never cooked, and the only thing in the cabinet was cookies. my mom is buys mcdonalds several days of the week for my brothers so she doesnt have to cook, and I just stopped eating it. haven't for years. But now I try balence my diet, and excersize and run and not read for more than 20 minutes at a time and all that jazz.

Last night i had a pack of peanut butter M&Ms, because I had two midterms and a paper due the next day, and i felt i could make the allowance. Sometimes i let my health slack so i can concentrate on other things. sometimes i have balence bars, instead of deserts, because i like the taste of chocolate and soy, and i'd rather have the vitamins and minerals in there than just plain crap if i was eating something worse, like M&Ms.

I eat junk food all the time. Frequently, it's the only thing available. Plus it tastes really good.

I eat it occasionally, but no more often than once a month max. Haven't had any now since ... I dunno, probably about a month ago.

It's funny. Out of all the questions you ask us your forget perhaps the most important reason why people eat junk food....it simply tastes good!

I eat it every now and then but then again, I don't gain weight (at least for now (21)) because of my good genes.

A lot of people take pleasure in eating so we deliberately seek out foods that taste very good. We're willing to do the emotional algebra of trading length of life for happiness.

Healthy food tastes like shit. It's as simple as that.

I don't eat junk food mostly, and the "junk" food I do eat doesn't contain unhealthy ingredients. My "junk" fodd is the healthy varieties. I don't eat anything containing cholesterol or saturated fats, which excludes animal products from my diet. The only exception is frozen pizzas with low-fat cheese (minimal amount of cholesterol+saturated fat).

I don't eat ice-cream. I'll eat sorbet instead, or just fruit.

Food that is good for you tastes great when you aren't used to eating junk foods that exaggerate the taste factor. When you eat that all the time, then normal food tastes bland.

I also don't eat junk food because it's insulting for people to sell it. Like to put approximatley 8 teaspoons of sugar in one soft-drink, what does that tell you about that soft-drink makers regard for you? I don't appreciate the attitude behind junk foods made to overwhelm you with "tastiness" while offering no practical value for your body. It's like cheating somehow.

I don't drink soda at all. I used to wonder how it would be possible not to, but I've found a renewed love for just having some cold water. Water used to not be good enough.

Tastes are subject to training. When you decide what to eat based upon knowledge instead of taste, then your taste buds follow suit, instead of leading the way. I used to hate soy milk. When I first started drinking it, I could only stomach it in a protein shake, with fruit and stuff, but I eventually started drinking it straight. When I decided to start drinking it, I didn't let my taste buds make up my mind. I did it because I had a reason to, and my taste buds just had to adjust. Now it satisfies me. Now it's cow milk that makes me heave.

I do have a serious vice : coffee

I used to aviod it... but then i got rhuematism...

and the number one symton is a high acidity level... well reading shows that acids are produced by buring fats.. as by dieting...

and so is caused by a lack of carbos in the diet...

so... being almost bed ridden... ii gave up all animal products and ate only high sugar foods... junk food...
anything with sugar in it.. candy.. soda.. pastries...

and for 3 days nothing happened..

but on day number 4... i woke up feeling 95% cured...

burning fat is bad... its called ketosis... and acids... cause the break down of protien in the body... which precipitate in the blood.. like dirt...

    all bad...

ahhhhhh, the 'taste good factor' oh yeah. THA is ti make you eat it and want more. they aint stooopid. wel they are really, but they are very clver in hookin you to buy moremore more more. thats the point see?

heard of a 'spoilt palette'? tis is where the junk foor eater cannot eat anything which is not artifically 'spiced' up, especially with salt, and additives and fat and sugar. like you or someone said ---'natrual food tastes crap'......

hmmm. lets examine that. when you say 'natrual' do you mean natrual as in pesticied and food grown in artifical fertilizers on earth thats had all natrual minerals leeched out. or do you mean organic food thats not grown with all thaT SHIT? because it is usually agreed that organic fod on the whole tastes better than food grown UNorganically. so which do you mean. i cant explore what you mean till yo tell me

Buring fat is bad? That's how your body works. It's also not equal to being in a state of ketosis. Ketosis begins when glycogen is depleted, but one can still burn body fat and have glycogen stores to spare.

Dieting doesn't necessarily mean that one is not comsuming adaquate carbohydrates, unless it's one of those fad "no-carb" diets. Cutting excess calories doesn't require "starving" the body of essential nutrients, including adequate carbohydrates to avoid glycogen depletion. You'll still burn excess fat if you calories are cut to less than what's required to maintain your current weight.

Ketosis happens when glycogen runs dry, not when calories are cut, and the body can still burn excess calories (body fat) while recieving plenty of carbohydrates for glucose.

Your body burns fat then, either with it's supply of glucose, or by using a substitute (ketones) when you're not consuming enough carbohydrates. It's easy to cut one's calories for weight loss, while still comsuming more than enough carbohydrates though.

Ketosis isn't healthy, but weight (fat) loss can be perfectly healthy.

okay. hate to have to tell you, but rhematism isn't the only disease yo can get...! heard of furring of the arteries, and heart disease, and aterial scelrosis, and etc etc. well this is what'll hapen if thats te diet yer on. seriously, you must checkout eg Patrick Holford. i dont agree with tis nutritionist on everything (he's UK's supposed top nutritionist)--for example i feel he pushes his very expensive supplements too much. but much of what he says about nution are basics. for example many people in this stupid busy world take sugar a lot cause it is quick fix. it boosts energy levels. butttt, guess what, after a sudden quick fix thy plinge agin so more sugar's needed. RAHter then we should look to oter foods that give SLOW releaseand longer lasting energy right?....stuff like that.tis shit we havelost because of the vil fuker s Big Food pushin their drugs on ya. sugar is a drug. seriously

I was inspiored to start this thread after reading this:
KIDS PLAGUED BY HI-TECH ADS FOR JUNK FOOD:
CHILDREN are beng secretloy bombarded with junk food ads - which ae beamed into their mobiles, emails and video games.
A shock report by Which? magazine reveals how new hi-tech sales techniques are makihg a mockery of attempts to control Britain's obesity boom.
The devices used to tempt kids topart with their cash include WEBSITES which look like showbiz mags - but give subtle plugs to unhealthy snacks or drinks.
Video GAMESW and kid's MOBILES are incessantly targeted. Oe popular game includes a McDonald's kiosk where players score by eating burgers.
    DIFFICULT
Websites also offer cool images and jokey items contaiing "viral ads" which kids EMAIL to pals.
Which? expert Sue Davies said: "As a parent, it is difficult to protect your child. Irresponsible marketting of junk foods to children has to stop." www.mirror.co.uk january 29 06

    Yes.

I don't agree with the junk food = chronic malnourishment camp, we are much more resilient than that.

A twinkie might not be ideal but, it is healthy compared to the some of the hardships our ancestors endured.

Diseases that plague persons of advanced age( heart disease etc..), are products of evolutionary neglect.

I think this stuff is slightly exaggerated (but only slightly). The fact is that kids go to cool websites, you can't turn an advertising plug into somewhere cool just by putting bangs and whistles on it. Similarly no advertising company ever made a decent game, because they are too obviously promoting a product rather than providing decent gameplay. There is far too much conventional advertising (techniques which actually have a proven track-record, after all) aimed at children in any case, we need to campaign harder to get that stuff taken off the goggle box.

Now, junk food - I eat burgers and fast food once or twice a month, but convenience food (microwave meals) every day. I actually see no particular problem with convenience foods as long as a) you actually eat them properly regularly, b) you don't supplement them with snacks - sweets, crisps (chips) or sandwiches and c) you get in a modicum of exercise. Far too many diets are far too faddy and pernickety. Eat a modest amount of food at regular, set intervals, and take some exercise. There, I just made a billion dollars. Or rather not, because it's too simple and people won't buy that.

As little as possible, but a lot of it actually has some goodness to it, carbs mostly, its the additives and all that stuff that needs avoiding and i try a lot harder to avoid that.
It tastes good(well some of it) and its convenient, i can also get away with it quite nicely since i dont put on weight and i excercise.
I've known what to eat for a long time, i dont think most people are ignorant of what they should eat, even younger people, its just laziness from them or their parents or a general dislike for other foods really, i hated a lot before i even got into junk.
I actually hate most microwave food meals.
If i had any i'd allow them some, better they eat than go hungry, but i wouldnt regularly make it for them or encourage it.
I wasnt aware it had ever been cool or to do with classes.
