Well, I am going to say this, the people who are most upset with the broadened powers of the government are the ones with something to hide. If I was NSA would not do the illegal taps, just make people think I was. Then when somebody bitches and starts protesting I watch them, legally.

I think the people that are most upset are the ones who have a problem with looming fascism.

'fascio-an organized political group or club:--pl. fasci:--ns. Fascism...the authoritarian form of government in Italy from 1922-1943, characterized by extreme nationalism, anti-communism and estrictions on individual freedom.......
Fascist-a member of a ruling party in Italy from 1922-1943 ...(also without 'cap') an exponent or supporter of Fascism, or (loosely anyone with extreme right-wing, nationalistic, etc. views or methods..."

    likeyourself supporting torture.

Industrial fascism is what you take for granted. The State indoctrinating you in its schools, colleges, uni's to be a good loyal citizen and work work work for the Gross National Product. To be 'efficient' ie., like a part in a machine and not question authority-----which even means growing and smoking a common plant, cannabis, EVEN if you have a debilitating disease which only smoking it will ease, after all PATENTEDgovernment offical medicines wit teir side-effects haven't helped. such a person will findthemselves in jail

The war on drugs IS fascism

the war on 'terrorism' IS fascism

as was the war on 'communism' in the 1950s

As Wilhelm Reich rightly pointed out . Communism is also the 'read fascism' a it takes individual freedoms away, and imposes the State as the higher abstraction which must be followed

SO, Left AND Right is Fascist...!

it may npot seem so to you, as in nazi Germany it wouldn't have seemed so to those te horrors didn't touch, but it IS to those constantly harrassed by this fascist culture. the ones taken away, locked up, and tortured---all their human rights totallydismissed by the State, andif 'lucky' spat out without any apology, explanation, recompense

And those harrased by the grim realities of survival, when if they stop may find themselves having to live in a grim violence-filled place, or homeless etc

And for the many many who cannot cope, they will be classed 'mentally ill' and hav e State-sanctioned drugs pushed at them which are potentially damaging to mind and body, BUT keeps the State fascist domination ticking along. Hwere there is dissent fascists will deal with it, and drugging was/is shared by both Left (Soviet Russia, and Leftwingers in the West who dont quesion this 'mental health' scam) and the Right. Bush admin wants to test every man woman and child for mental illness.

I guess Duendy let himself go a bit, but basaically he is right on most points concerning fascism.

    another dictionary definition:

    fas·cism
    1. often Fascism
    1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
    2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
    2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

Yes, the War on Terrorism is facism due to the laws we're allowing the powers that be to pass which restricts our freedoms. There should be absolutely NO reason to EVER restrict our freedoms. Even if we knew for sure that tomorrow a nuke would be detonated in NYC, our freedoms should never be restricted. When everyone is considered to be guilty from the get-go rather than innocent, that's a huge problem and is an example of facism.

No, it wasn't. The Patriot Act was already an idea before 9/11 even happened. It's purpose is to be an across the board system that can be used for anything, even against innocent civilians. Across the board laws that restrict our freedoms is an example of facism. And the Patriot Act was only voted on after 9/11 because that was the perfect moment to let it slip through Congress while everyone was heated and wanted retribution against those terrorists.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. - Benjamin Franklin"

I believe in that quote 100% and history has proven it time and time again to be absolutely correct. The same as "absolute power corrupts absolutely."

    from lifeandliberty.gov:

"We are waging a war that defends the lives of all Americans. And we wage that war each day in a way that values and protects the civil liberties and the constitutional freedoms that make our Nation so special."

    Alberto R. Gonzales - June 9, 2005
USA PATRIOT Act Quote of the Day

“The USA PATRIOT Act is an essential part of our Nation's efforts in the war against terrorism, and I commend the House of Representatives for deciding to renew these critical sections. Our number-one priority is protecting the American people from another terrorist attack, and today's bipartisan vote is an important step toward ensuring that the men and women of law enforcement continue to have the tools they need keep us safe.

(with appropriate butting-in apology) To protect the status quo at all costs. Like the old lady who swallowed a fly. A lost cause, of course.

Uh, the whole purpose of the Patriot Act contradicts what he's saying, lol! Heck, that's like waging war with Iraq because Saddam Hussein is an evil person that tortured his own civilians but then go around and torture those same people that we accussed Saddam of being such a horrible person for, lol. And hell, not only does that quote contradict itself, but the person saying it does as well as we all know what his story is on torture and other distasteful acts he approves of.

No, the Patriot Act was passed because nobody even read the darn thing since it was given to everyone the night before it was supposed to be voted on. It's funny now that the "bi-partisan" people know what's going on with it, they're delaying the Patriot Act so that they can get rid of all the parts that infringe on our personal freedoms.

Damn, man, the writing is RIGHT THERE on the wall yet you continue to ask these stupid questions and wanting proof. You can go ahead and have the utmost faith in this administration to not abuse their power, but when the time comes that they DO abuse it, you better not be surprised that they would do it or complain about it when it was all written right there for all to see. If you do, I'm gonna kick you in the balls, but if the day comes that your left nut gets busted, that'll be the least of your worries. But remember, the logical people prefer to solve problems before they arise rather than letting it loom. Go ahead and live in ignorance, for as they say, it's bliss!
