Do you think it would be easier to Secure "Our" Borders
if our borders went around all the land from Texas to
the Arctic, from the Atlantic to the Pacific?

Would it be better for the world if Canada allowed
each province to decide for itself what country it
    wanted to be part of...?

I know what would happen, and so do you.
Canada lives in the Shelter of American Might.
Americans would develop that land so much more
    than the Canadians do.

Canadian humor is almost ALL about the USA,
so it's not like their culture would change much.
America has many different regions with distinct
cultural flovours... Canada would simply add a few.

Soon their dollar will be worth as much as the
US Dollar. I'd like to retire there.. but I can't.
Though my Grandma's family was from there,
for about 7000 generation I'd guess. Many of us have family
on both sides of the border. That border was set by
England.. and they left, so what do you think??

Time to kiss and make up?

AND....... Soon the climate in Canada is going to be as warm as USA has always been and the USA could bring the expertise needed to work with that, and to SECURE the ARCTIC REGION as the Arctic seas thaws and new sea routes are exposed. And new oil and gas fields are exposed. Canada does NOT have the resources to hold that territory.. maybe China does .... YIKES!

With all the social and economic problems we have in the United States, and how friendly the Canadians are everytime I go up there, I think it would be better if we just asked Canada if we could join them: one country called Canada.

Although realistically speaking, this could never happen, if it did, the Americans would find themselves stuck in the most serious guerilla war they have ever seen.

I don't think the Canadians would go for it, myself.

In Canada, we have little desire to "secure" our borders even further. Your country has its own enemies. You can keep them.

Since when in the past five years has it been beneficial for a nation to have ties to the United States? Tell that to the victims in Spain and London who were killed because their countries participated in the Iraq war.

Our countries may seem somewhat alike, but those who lead them represent polar opposites on a variety of issues, ranging from foreign policy, to gay marriage, to the "war on drugs". We have mutliculturalism, you believe in assimilation. Our country is behind one of the strongest economies in the world at the moment, yours is billions of dollars in debt thanks to a dimwitted commander-in-chief.

I have no desire to enter into a futile argument over whose country is objectively superior, but I think I speak for most Canadians when I say, "Thanks, but no thanks."

Mexico would jump at the idea. Half their population is willing to trudge across the desert, risking life and limb, just to become Americans. As for Canada, I somehow doubt that most of its citizens would be willing to die in the name of their country.

Canada's debt as of 2004 - $570,000,000,000. Let's not forget the Sponsorship Scandal, the $2 Billion gun registry boondoggle, etc.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sponsorship_scandal

    We have mutliculturalism

Don't you mean the continuous flow of criminals into Canada who really want to get into the US, but know very well they'd be deported back to their homeland by US Immigration, so instead they set up shop in Canada because Canadian Immigration is a joke?

Don't you mean the people who escape the problems of their own countries only to bring those problems to America, destroying the quality of life we now have?

Don't you mean the boatloads of refugees who were looked after by Canadian Immigration for months only to escape and dissapear into the US?

Jesus the might of America speaks again. When will Americans learn that you can't make friends by manipulating and forcing them to join you. It doesn't work and in the last 5 years i thought you all would have realised that.
America was colonised by English, Scottish, Irish, Spanish, Potugeuse, French, Italians, Chinese, Africans, etc, etc. You are a country of people who wanted to get away from their own countries or who were forced onto ships and sent there. You have no real identity. The real Americans were friendly unless they were provoked, the new Americans attack even when unprovoked.

I think it is very sad to see Americans talk about their neighbours in this way. The rest of the world already hates your attitude, infact do you have any friends left oh and i don't mean those countries who only help because they are too afraid to speak out against you. Who wouldn't be, i mean 'shock and awe', refusal to decommission nuclear warheads? Your government is a joke. The downfall of AMERICA is AMERICA. Give it back to the natives. At least they respected their country and the rest of the world!

The fact that we had no one national culture was probably the best thing about us. We tried the ideas everybody scoffed at or passed by because of fear that it went against their way. We weren't afraid to replace the old with the new instead of clinging to thousand year old relics like a baby to its teat.

The rest of the world will, without a doubt, hate whoever is on top. If china gets on top, you will have anti-china demonstrations in every unpronouncable podunk country in the world. If it was iceland, everyone would hate iceland. Those on top are simultaniously cursed for their interference on the world stage and have such actions demanded of them.

I can tell you one thing though. Whoever passes us will be forced to become exactly like us.

Oh boy. Imperialist America eh! You have to get over yourselves. So what you have killed your way to becoming the largest superpower on earth but if you think that will stop smaller groups or countries fighting back then no. Sure as shit if China was as powerful as America and acted in the same arrogant, ignorant, imperialistic, half arsed way then i would hate them but not for being on top. I actually think it is a great thing when a country becomes strong but not at the expense of everyone else.

America has a few good things going for it but mostly it is a mess and to be fair it is messing up the whole world. As it trudges all over the globe leaving behind a trail of shit. No country is perfect and i am not having a go at all American people i know there are some sane, decent Americans out there but come on. Stop with the bully fucking tactics and leave every other country to fucking develop instead of forcing them to sit down and shut up all of the time. That is the attitude the world hates. Why should France or Germany or any other country have jumped in to help America attack Iraq? What gave America the right to point the finger at these countries for making the right choice. I hate being stuck to the gobshite English but i am and now anytime i go into a fucking city i am at risk. You are at risk and so are the people from the countries who decided to aid the 'superpower'. What did you need help with? Beating Iraqis to death, the cover up story, Abuse of prisoners? What was it? If you are so powerful then why don't you go off and do things yourself and then let the world see Americas for what it really is. Without friends like Canada, U.K, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc, etc, etc. America would not be able to carry out military operations when they pleased without causing a whole lot more trouble for themselves. In a word America would be nothing.

Think about it. No country is so great and those that think they are usually end up in pieces. The Roman Empire, Napoleonic/French Empires, The Ottoman Empire, The British Empire, etc. America is big and it is rich so instead of waving it in the faces of everybody else. Do some good for a change. After all you have the power to. Don't you?

As for this type of reply. Grow a brain.

Mexicans don't want to be American they just want a job, schooling and some money.Perhaps some decent healthcare. That would be like me crossing the border into England or Republic of Ireland. I don't want to be anything other than what i am, the only reason i am there is for employment and money.

Canadians would die for Canada, ofcourse they would. They do have an army to defend themselves with and i am sure a good majority of men from Canada would willingly die if there freedom was threatened.

    Before you answer. Think.

There is no bias here. It is all common sense. You can support your country i have no problem with that but think about the effects your support has on other countries before you vote or join the military.

Those who rule over you are the very people who can destroy everything you have. Be careful.

No they wouldn't. Only if they were put in charge of the southern states in the name of Aztlan, would they. We don't like others being in charge of us, why would they? When it comes to places with high culture, they want things their way. They don't wanna assimilate.

Talk about ignorant. What do you know about Canada? If you're a typical American - the square root of jack squat.

True, Canada is less willing to play world-super-cop like the U.S. and doesn't have the cowboy mentality of the U.S. but let me remind you Canada was in both world wars and jumped into WWII before the U.S. did. Canada was in Korea but thought better of Vietnam (hmm, perhaps a good move?)

Canada was in the Balkans with NATO, had ships in the Persian Gulf in the the first Iraq war and Canada is currently in Afghanistan hunting the Taliban.

Just because Canada didn't participate in the current Iraq debacle (like every other country except Britain and Poland.... and....???) doesn't mean Canadian troops aren't willing to die for freedom.

The US is a great country but try informing yourself. There is a whole world outside the US.

I wouldn't want Canada to become part of the US. I live in the upper pensisula of Michigan and I've always wanted it to secede (sp?) and join Canada. I'm way more into the direction the Canadians are headed (ie- decriminalization of marijuana, legalizing gay marriage, etc....), then where the US is headed with Georgie-porgie in office (pro-life evangelical Christian Republican shit). Canada would be wrecked in a heart-beat. Don't get me wrong, I love the U.S., but it can be very embarrassing to live here, especially with W in office. I just hope people know we're not all like that.

    Peace....analbeads :m:
