what do you guys think of a chess thread? or maybe a chess sub forum? a place where the members can play chess? i should have made a poll but too late for that. your thoughts?
Should the sysop build a little interactive flash/java applet where members can face other members, or did you mean an old school 'pen pal' styled chess sub-forum where the two users take turns posting moves?
this may be a little problematic if all the games were on only one thread. maybe if there was a ort of sub tread instant messenger sort of thing like a chat room perhaps.
another problem would be, what would keep players from getting moves from books and posting them as their own
I don't think that would be a problem. How would a move from a book help you once you'd got past the early game? I do think, however, that it'd be a pretty tedious way to play chess :S
There are plenty of online chess servers. Asking the sysop to build another one here seems a little over the top Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
ok, this is what i got: let's suppose the sub forum has been created let's also suppose that there are currently 4 players: lepold99,jack54,glaucon,zephyr in the sub forum there will be at least one sticky since there are 4 players there will be 4 threads each thread having the name of a player let's assume leopold99 has 3 games going one with each of the other players to make my move to jack54 i would open the thread leopold99 and type: to jack54 (a move) then i would close the thread to make my move to glaucon i would open leopold99 and type to glaucon (a move) then close the thread the same would apply for all the games i have to recieve a move from jack54 i would open the thread jack54 and look for the last entry to leopold99 while in the chess sub forum post counts would be disabled. aren't there any russians on this board?
Sorry leopold99, I forgot about this thread for a while! I think your idea is pretty well thought out, but I don't know if I could be bothered. Chess over the internet doesn't really appeal to me.
